I'm looking for a carseat for my 4 year old that fits better in the backseat middle than the one we currently have. Its a Graco and its really bulky in my opinion. I'm looking for something that would fit more comfortably back there that is lower profile. Any other dads out there have a carseat in the back seat? Suggestions?

I had a Chico keyfit 30. Until our son was 8months. Now we have a Graco 4ever.

The Chico fit okay but only in the middle, and it just touched the front seats(like a finger width inbetween). My wife and I are both 5'10" and could still sit comfortably...

The problem is the Tacoma. My wife has a 4runner and there is just loads more backseat room. Ended up just taking the 4runner everywhere cause it was easier.
(Plus the V8 is a nicer drive)

    Sorry can't be more help.
Best bet is just going to a store like buy buy baby with your car seat and comparing it to other ones.

...And then buying a used 4runner. Lol

Disregard missed the "4year" old bit.

We've had several brands (Graco, Britax, Recaro) but for our 4 1/2 year old, by far the easiest to use, least bulky, but highly rated (safety first, right?!) is the Chicco Kidfit. It converts to a booster when age appropriate and uses the cars shoulder/seat belt. It fits the back of the Taco very well (I like it behind the passenger seat) and is very easy to both use and install/un-install. Still plenty of room for 2 more passengers back there. Only thing is it has a minimum weight of (I think) 40 lbs and you have to be ready to give up the 5 point harness in favor of the trucks existing belts. Our kiddo is pretty big and was totally ready to make the switch. Only about a hundred bucks as well! Good luck and safe driving!

We use a Diono for my 2 year old on the passenger door side and a graco click connect base in the middle for our 3 month old. We’ll get a diono for the younger when he’s ready.

Can you tough it out until they’re in a booster? Our almost 5yo just got out of her car seat into a booster and they are way smaller.

I would buy a car seat that best fits and secure’s the child...after all you can always replace the truck.

How are you all connecting your car seat in the middle? At least on the 2nd gens, you aren't supposed to put a car seat in the middle unless you use the seat belt to install it. There are no LATCH points for the middle seat.
