Ya never mind. I thought at the car show (for 2010s) I saw that dodge switched over to IFS on the 2500s and 3500s.

A guy I know owns a transport/car hauling business he has a 2008 3500 Chevy Duramax 6.6 with 170k miles. Its got the Edge power system. He hasn't had a bit of trouble with it.

funny were looking at a new diesel truck too, my dad settled on the dodge because he didnt like the whole urea system on the ford and chevy for 2010. The interior on the dodge is super nice as well.

I have heard great things about the Chevy 2500 and 3500. I know a guy who had an 03 or 04 that got 700,000 miles out of it, before the reverse on the tranny wouldnt work anymore, so those Allisons are unbeatable. Heard great things about the power on the '10 and the exhaust brake on the durmaxes.

    Just stay away from Ford.

But if your happy with the dodge get another one. Its ultimately up to you, but Dodges do have record problems with trannys, they cant get a good one put in there trucks.

Now if you could buy a truck with a cummins with an allison behind it, there would be no competition.

I'm a fan of the Cummins diesels because I prefer an I6 for diesels which is how they should be, not a V8. Plus I dread working on the PSDs and Duramax, I replaced a water pump on an 04 Duramax and flat-rate time is about 8 hours I believe, absolutely ridiculous I'll leave it at that.

But as a consumer, the best truck seems to be the new Duramax HDs with the Allison trans.

My family has always had powerstrokes, they always get a new one every 2 years for the farm. Ever since 2005 i havent been particularly happy with them JMO. My best friend on the other hand has a 09 Dodge and i love that thing. It pulls like a beast and is really quiet. We pulled a 9000lb bobcat with it, you could tell it was back there but it pulled like a champ. He recently did the EGR delete on it and he said its a night and day difference on it. Havent gotten to ride in it yet but he said MPG went up and it runs like a scalded ape.

Never really been a fan of the duramax's personally.

Most seem to begin having issues after they hit 100K miles. leaking brake boosters, seals, etc. And they are a pain in the ass to work on.

we went and drove the three yesterday ive narrowed it down to 2 the new powerstroke and the cummins. as far as chevy i didnt like the shift points and the way the engine and trans combo acted like it had a hesitant period, i like to know if i step on the gas its gonnna move. the team at ford seems like they have their act together and put together a good truck everything just seems solid but i dont know if i wanna trust a new diesel with no track record. we were talking last night and maybe even looking at the gas engines.

Whats the reason for needing a Diesel? Do you pull?
