Removed the intake manifold and the injectors all look like they need replacement along with the fuel filter. I'm sure the fuel filter is orginal.

Engine update: As some of the keen eyed people (fire marshal Rob) noticed the engine out of the truck so quick. I actually picked up a spare/ parts engine last week. I wasn't planning on getting a complete spare engine, but the price was good. The new (Texas engine) out of a 2000 Toyota 4Runner has most of the parts I need for the Tacoma engine; clamps, hoses, bolts, nuts, exhaust manifold and hopefully throttle body. But more importantly has been a practice engine for my education.
I have had a few people ask why I didn't just replace the engine or bring it to a dealership to get repaired or lots of other seemingly stupid decisions. The answer is; I'm doing this for fun, I enjoy taking things apart and fixing them, I like to see what makes things tick? I really enjoy proving people wrong, when they say I can't without this tool/ shop/ knowledge or whatever their reasons are for not fixing things themselves. I currently have time on my hands to work on this in my shop while watching hockey.
Photos to follow, notice the homemade valve removal tool that the autoparts store wanted 90$ for?

Does anyone know if the breather tube is replaceable? I looked the parts diagram and couldn't 100% confirm if I'm able to replace or not. Mine corroded and broke at the front diff and dosen't seem to be able to unscrew. I could drill it out, and replace with a 1 way check off a rear.

Yikes, that sucks. If you want to skip opening it, you could probably JB Weld the tube back on, unless you can get a bead to stick to that housing.

If you plan on taking it apart anyway, then you could drill out the old one and hammer in a new tube.
