I do not go OR so I don’t need anything crazy, but I’m going to throw a leveling kit on my Tacoma soon and I figured I might as well replace shocks while I’m working in that area. I drive a 17’ SR and I’m just looking for suggestions

I have the fox 2.0 performance shocks. It lifted the front about 1.5 inches to make it level with the rear. The rear has no lift but it does have the fox shocks too. They feel really good on the road and its an improvement over the stock suspension.

I just bought 2021 trd front complete assemblies and rear shocks from someone here a month ago. They are oem Toyota bilstein and had only 180 miles on them. Before install there was a rake and after install, it looks level but maybe .75 in higher in back but can’t tell the difference. Also the taco lean seems to be gone in the front.

I replaced my hitachi shocks and struts with Bilstein 5100s. No lift... Went (improved) from soft and squishy to firm and positive.

Given a choice of replacement shocks for just normal daily driving, i'd make KYB's my first pick....They were outstanding on my past Toyota.

Other than the maybe KYBs which I haven’t tried, the options suggested here are stiffer than stock. If you like your truck’s squishy ride I’d get the factory shocks again. After driving 300k+ miles in SR5s with various shocks, I concluded the Toyota engineers knew what they were doing when they picked the OEM shocks. They are tuned for average road driving comfort

I saw a lady a few weeks ago beside the road, squatted down with pants around ankles, obviously peeing. I was shocked.

I can attest to this. Bought my 08 in 2/19, 160K on the clock. Put new KYB mono-tubes on the rear, and had the dealer do the fronts at the frame replacement in 3/20. Great used in DD duties, yet firm enough to venture off road occasionally. I like 'em a lot, even if I'm not in the 'shiny shock' club:rolleyes:. They just plain work, for 90% of people's needs.

I had them on my 2001 tundra for over 100k miles till the struts failed...the lower mount rubber bushings went tapioca. Like said they were plusher than the trd bilsteins, and rode great on the highway. I think KYB build a few models so you need to check them out before picking them.

This is true. I went with 'Strut-Plus' which is an upgrade mono tube design.
