Just ordered my lift from Headstrong (Awesome customer service btw) and want to take the HD spring out to make them the MD springs. I was told the the 3rd leaf from the top spring is the HD leaf. Can anyone confirm that for me please.
    Thanks all

I can confirm that's what Headstrong says, so I'd go with that.

Headstrong believes its the 3rd leaf from the top, they weren't positive. I am just trying to get confirmation before I install it like this. Thanks anyways.

The 3rd from the top sounds right. The top spring usually has two eyes for the bushings and the second one down will have a partial military wrap. Can't remove either of those.

The next leaf down should be just a flat one.

From the bottom up it'll be overload springs (super thick) and the ones above that aren't full length or will have the spring clips riveted to them.

If you take a photo of your actual spring pack it'll be easy to tell.

Thank you very much. Still waiting on the rest of the lift from Headstrong. Bills with 887 coils and SPC UCAs on my 2011 Double cab. Pretty excited. Been saving for this lift since last year. I will be installing lift myself and will document progress as I make it.

    Thank again DaveInDenver

Can confirm 3rd from the top. Had MD and added the extra spring. My original MD 3rd spring looked like the 4th spring in your picture.

Thanks bud. I was worried the rear would sit to high after the 887's settle. Will be awhile until I can afford a RTT and gear.

The dakars settled a lot on my truck. Initially, I was worried the MD was too stiff and too high but they settled in nicely. After 3 months and 1 camping trip, I bought the extra leaf to make them HD.

Save your parts and careful if you trim the center pin.

Do you think it will sit way too high with 887 springs in the front. Im looking for a factory rack look and not level. I want to leave them in if I can but its going to be a while till I get any weight on that bed.

These are my Medium Dakars. Hope it helps.

From this POV, it seems that my pack differs from yours in your 2nd leaf.

I wish I could give you an answer but I do not know. There are so many variables. I wanted the rake in the back as well but the MD leveled out to be about 1.5" after they settled on me.

I think you've got a good idea, run the MD until they settle and you can get your bed setup complete. The MD rode great unloaded and sat perfect (unloaded) once they settled. They will seem way high at first but give them time.

Look at the forward end, the difference is the second leaf should have a turned up section and the normal 3rd leaf will be flat on both ends.

If they don't do military wraps then it might not matter and could be 2nd or 3rd I suppose.

The leafs are the same. I just have a pic of the other end. I think i'm leaning towards leaving the HD leaf in and see where it sits. Thank you all for the help. i will post pics once I install.
