Really beating myself up bad since I made a dumb mistake and clipped a pole slowly pulling in while parking. Is this something I can fix myself or will need to take to a dealership or third party service? If anyone has any guidance or insight would be greatly appreciated. 2023 Toyota Tacoma off-road.

it's brand new, I'd get it fixed right.
Just the bumper, headlight, paint, and labor are going to be nearly 2 grand.

New front bumper, new headlight, fog light insert, maybe some clips. Won't be cheap but I'd give it a go myself before allowing an accident report go to my insurance or even worse, Carfax. Resell value would take a hit and I've even read some dealerships will report this kind of work to Carfax as an accident because they would report doing body work in the service history.

You can bring the parts to any body shop and have them color match the paint using the paint code. Plenty of videos of showing removal and installation of the bumper. About a days worth of labor and however much parts cost, piece of cake. Better yet, it's not impossible to find a used one from a junk yard and just have that painted.

Good news is it's still drivable, fix it when you can. Tape up the headlight though to keep rain out.

Damn bud, I can empathize with your situation but unless you’re a professional body repair (presume ya aren’t because ya asked), I think you’re gonna need to take it to a body shop. The headlight and the popping back in of the body molding is easy and you could do yourself. The scraped paint/torn bumper under the headlight is where you’re gonna need a professional. Based on a recent previous post showing damage in almost the same spot, you’re looking at $4-5k for insurance claim. Good luck dude!

PS I love your color, it’s my other favorite color besides my Army Green.

Get it fixed right man. Just pay the deductible and have it repaired properly.

I was sideswiped by a road rage moon bat and it didn't do that much damage. If I hadn't of had my dash cam it would of been a real pain in the butt.

its a new truck and this situation isnt ideal but most of that stuff should click back in (area around the fog lights and Front bumper cover to fenders) Replace the headlight and decide if you want to spend the money to fix it. We all pay the stupid tax every now and then.

If a forever truck pay deductible and have quality shop fix it.

If you are a 2-3 year owner pay the same shop OOP. You'll have the same quality work, but no ding on insurance and no Carfax accident history

Thank you all for the insight I appreciate all of it and yea this will be my forever truck so I might as well bite the billet and do it correct. If anyone has any additional advice it’s still greatly appreciated

Definitely let your insurance handle it. Random guess $3500-4k in parts, labor, materials. If the fogs are damaged I'd see about upgrading to diode dynamics ss3's. You'll probably need to re-aim the headlights as well. Find a reputable shop with good reviews.

I clipped a pole 10 or so years ago and caused about $3 -$4k in damage. Mistake on my part.

Turned it in to my insurance that took care of it. $500 deductible later and it looked good as new.

The bummer part: got a point in my license for "at fault" accident, lost my good driver discount, and got surcharged for 3 years afterward. Insurance company sure got their money back and then some.

If I had to do it over again I would have found a low cost body shop and paid cash for the repair.
