I do wish the 4WD switch wasn’t the same size and right next to the climate controls.

What world do you live in where people are actually waiting until they get to a stop light to text?

I look at almost everyone I pass and I swear 90% of them have one or both hands on their phone, texting and scrolling their little thumbs away.

I am pretty sure the system can only be turned on below 62mph but once engaged doesn't turn off.
I've driven my truck over 75mph many times in 4hi

No issues in 4hi at those speeds. I towed a trailer in 4wd hi for 500 miles reaching 70 mph at times when roads were covered in snow and ice for many miles.

While there was probably no damage, this is one of the long list of reasons I dont like to lend things out to anyone. I lent some ice fishing gear to a buddy overnight, he didnt even use it and 2 of the 3 things came back broken.

My thought is- if you need to borrow, you can’t afford to buy, which means you can’t afford to fix/buy what you’re asking to borrow. Yeah I have good insurance, and that’ll just be me paying for to fix or replace what the borrower still can’t afford, just the payments spread out.

This is why I have a manual transmission. Everyone wants to borrow it until they realize they cannot operate it!

    Nothing worthy
These are fundamentals of owning a vehicle like this. Know the issues before driving, read the manual, know how to drive it before you do..... HWY in 4HI is fine, NO dry pavement turns in 4HI

My question is why would anyone drive 60 or 70+ mph in 4wd on the streets or highways? 4wd is for when you need extra traction like in rough terrain, mud, snow etc. If you are driving 60+ then you do not need to be in 4wd. If the highway is icy, snowy, slippery you shouldn’t be driving 60+ whether in 4wd or not. I understand it if you are just driving your monthly 10 miles in 4wd but other than that high speed driving in 4wd on the highway makes no sense.
If you are driving 60 or 70 on slippery roads you don’t have a problem with traction to the power wheels you will instead have a problem stopping when you hit the brakes and 4wd ain’t going to help you stop.

Where I live it’s common to drive 60-70 in 4wd on snow/ice. It helps with handling, especially with a rwd pickup. I prefer awd for those situations though.

That said, I see no reason to use part time 4wd on a dry or wet pavement, but it won’t destroy it instantly. I’ve been constantly switching in and out of 4wd during this recent winter snow storm that dumped snow and then kept us at 0F with “black ice” everywhere for a week in a major urban area.

Places exist where slippery conditions aren’t an emergency event and are present for months at a time.
You should only travel as fast as you are comfortable while still being able to maintain control. If that speed for you is slower than the speed limit, just make sure you’re in the right hand lane.

We do that all winter long in Alaska when the roads are covered in snow and ice.

You miss the point. If conditions are slippery that you need 4wd then you shouldn’t be traveling 60 or 70 mph. Again 4wd isn’t necessary if conditions allow you to travel on the highway at 60+. If conditions are bad enough that 4wd is necessary you shouldn’t be driving at high speed. And again if you can do 70 mph in slippery conditions your concern shouldn’t be power/traction to the drive wheels, you got that cause you are doing 70, your main concern should be stopping the vehicle doing 70 in poor conditions.

It’s best to keep up with traffic, otherwise get off the freeway.

In such conditions you don’t need 4wd to get unstuck, but it’s helpful in preventing rear wheel spin leading to an oversteer slide / fishtail. These are fun at 30 mph in no traffic, but not so fun in morning rush hour traffic at 60mph.
