So I took delivery of some new wheels for the Tacoma, but on wheel was kind of scratched. The vendor offered to give me a discount or return them. I don’t think it’s bad enough to request a return, I really don’t think I will see the scratch once it’s mounted. What do y’all think?

I would probably mask off the front and touch it up on the top side there and take the discount.

Brand new wheel?? I'd get a new one. That's not just "a little scratch". Sucks to have to wait, but that's not right.

Honestly if it mounts just fine you won't even notice it

Edit: if you plan on wheeling. You're going to get alot more scratches

Looks like it was dropped on rough cement.

I'm very concerned of the damage that the guys in the shop may do on mounting the new wheels I want. I'm going to a store where I know the manager and request that he put his most experienced technician on the job.

It would suck for you to be delayed on a replacement only to have the guys at the shop gouge them in some way.

If it were me....I'd probably wait for them to send me a replacement. I'd want to start out with everything 100% intact and damage free.

I’d ask for a new one but see how much they would be willing to sell you this one for. That way you have a matching spare. You’ll also avoid the hassle of shipping it back and they’ll save some return shipping money.

You'll see that when it's mounted, every day you walk up to it...

I would file the little burs off and add a little black paint. No one will ever notice. The first time you go wheeling you'll have more scratches than that anyway.

I like @9TRDTCO 's idea though. Get that one at a discount for your spare.

So I decided to get a new one sent out. I suppose I can drop the name of the vendor because they gave me some of the best customer service I’ve seen. Auto anything filed a claim with fedex for me and is having a new one sent out for me. I was really impressed with how fast they took care of that for me. They definitely earned a repeat customer!

Depends what the discount is, if it amounts to a free wheel, keep it. If its only 10-15% off, get a new one.

Auto Anything is probably more at fault for the damage if they shipped the wheels in anything that is like the crappy packaging that I've seen here at work.
