Went in today for the notorious brake squeak issue and the front diff vibration...and of course they could not replicate the problem. I figured I would just take it there since its all warranty work, but no, looks like I'm gonna have to do it myself at my expense. Can't wait for the "how'd we do?" follow up email. F@#% Charles Barker Toyota!...ok im done venting now

Wow, that sucks. Did you try bringing it to a different Toyota dealer in Virginia? Maybe do a ride along with the tech where you drive to show the issue. Good luck!

They won't fix it cause they can't find the problem. If you were able to tell them when or how the problems starts, they can fix it. But like most mechanic, they can't fix what they can't find what's broken

    The better coast
I can assume you have a smart phone. Take a video/audio of the squeak.

Not sure what to do with the vibrations, maybe record your tac

This worked for me in the past with my previous honda. Dealer could not replicate my squeal so I took a video and they finally looked at it. They did 4-5k worth of warranty work

i know exactly what is wrong and told them. the driver side diff bushing/bearing. vibration/growl in 2wd and immediately disappears in 4wd. you cant miss it while driving...theres a tsb out for the brake squeal and its most noticeable when the truck is cold. I'm very mechanically inclined and can fix it myself but I'd rather have the dealer foot the bill considering the truck is a year old and only having 12k miles on it

I know how you feel, it's frustrating when you know something isn't right but you can't get any help. I do see the problem the mechanic may have if it doesn't happen when they have it.

Are you able to go for a drive with the mechanic and show him? I was able to do this, didn't get it fixed but at least the mechanic knew I wasn't crazy.

Speaking of the follow up, is this standard procedure for every Toyota dealer? When I bought my first Tacoma I received a survey thing, and every time it had to go in. But with my second I've never received a survey, little strange as these times have not gone very well. Just curious, since the dealership I am talking about likes to advertise about customer service and winning Toyota dealership awards.

im going to another dealer tomorrow. they have pretty good reviews as far as customer service goes. i plan on driving with the guy if there is an issue with not hearing the squeal and/or vibration.... i dont know if follow up emails are a standard practice with all dealerships. the only reason i went to this one today was because that was where i bought the truck and they took care of me...but now they have my money they dont care. the dealership im going to tomorrow is MUCH closer and one of the guys im in the FD with works there part time

sucks OP they wont fix it. hope the other dealer will.

something i have read about being done a few times. is if you have facebook look and see if the dealer you use has a facebook page and post on their and complain. They don’t seam to like this when someone says how they are not doing work they should be doing or are not doing a good job.

how can they fix it if they are not able to replicate the issue? They cant lie when writing the story for warranty work to Toyota. They will get back charged for that and possibly audited.

Did you not do this the first time around? Interesting that you blame them for not being able to replicate it.

they already had the paperwork printed out and waiting for me at the desk. the did not even ask if i would ride with the mechanic. I suggested it and the guy paused for a minute and said "yea i guess" in a way that seemed that I was bothering him. after he did that i told to give me my truck back and i'll go somewhere else... I heard and felt the vibration the second i left the parking lot...along with the squeal from the brakes.

i wasnt being a dick at all the entire time...even after sitting there for 2 hours for them to tell me they could find anything...after the "yea i guess" remark...well thats a different story. clearly someone did not feel like doing there job today

Been there, done that. Here's one for Yah.

I just took my 2012 that has 28,000km because of a popping noise I'm hearing coming from my front end. Typically hear it when I start and stop. With the wheel turned or strait. I suspect something is loose. Possibly the infamous break pop but there's too many ways to produce the sound so I don't think it's that. The technician could hear the sound, once driving strait and one while turning at full lock.

His solution was to put never seize on the wheel stops, for a problem that doesn't only happen at full lock? . And he also blames the dirt he found building up above my skit plate and inside my frame. He pulled out a big chunk but I asked what mechanical component is being strained by the dirt enough to make it pop, he had no answer.

So I was polite and said I'll drop my skid plate and pressure was the fuck out of my front end and go from there. I did and the sound is the same. Obviously. Sometimes I wonder how these guys get hired. I've learnt you can't tell them what to do though. Have to do it there way. The slow and stupid way

They could COULD say that the problem was not happening when they had it(which it looks like they did say that) it maybe true or could be them just not wanting to do the work. idk why they get paid either way.

hope the next dealer finds the problem and fixes it. also if the OP told them what is wrong or most likely wrong why not pull the stuff apart and look at it and see if their is anything wrong with it that you can tell?(can’t all ways tell something is wrong with a part just by looking at it, but you don’t know till you look at it)

That's what I did. I called another dealer that closer to me and made an appointment with them. I dropped my truck off last night.
