Damn man. You just aren't getting it. I'm done here.

Just because a firearm is drawn does not mean it must be used. A threat assessment was in action. Have you ever seen a police officer draw his firearm when there was no crystal clear indication that there was a weapon involved? Have you also seen that firearm be put away and the use of force continuum lowered to a less lethal method? It happens. Waiting until you see a weapon in the perp's hand to be ready is a huge mistake. You'll end up dead. You've made it clear that you don't understand that by casually mentioning that you would attempt to draw your firearm if someone already had you in their sight picture. You'd be on the ground before you had it out of the holster. Get real.

Those of us carrying a firearm have an OBLIGATION to avoid starting or escalating confrontations. You may win the confrontation, but it won't go well for the rest of your life. You hit him with "the power of the sun" and then drew on him. How do you think that would play out in court?

YOU are not a police officer. Their job is to go in harms way. Yours is not.

The lights were a separate incident. The subject engaged in a pursuit and actively blocked my path after the light incident occurred. He escalated the situation by making the choice to u-turn and change his direction of travel to pursue me and threaten.

    Again,

My role as a civilian is also not to be a victim just because I'm not on duty as a police officer. I didn't pursue this individual and draw a gun on him.
