damn you 2007 transmission pan!

today while doing my transmission pan drain and refill my drain bolt decided to strip on me. there for now I have to take my pan and get it tapped and re threaded tomorrow morning. ( iv done his 5 times before and this is the first time its messed the threads up!)

well the good news is after I got the pan off,the magnets and fluid looked in superior shape. I noted while taking the pan off the 20 bolts were very loose. like maybe 5 ft/lbs torque. iv never touched them cause the last thing I wanted was a leak.

so im wanting to know while iv got the pan down and getting it re tapped should I change the filter even though the fluid appears great? iv just rolled over 105,000 miles. also what brand would you suggest and what's the torque on the 20 bolts??

 

As you can tell the bolt is pretty neat up. The pan threads is are about the same

 

so after several hours of reading and research iv found that the filter is pretty much reusable just clean it out with brake cleaner, and the torque for the 20 pan bolts is 39 lbs. can anybody verify this for me?

 

According to the FSM , the torque for the drain bolt on the pan is 21 foot pounds

The 20 bolts holding the pan to the transmission case are 39 "inch pounds " which to me is Not enough, 39 foot pounds is too much to the point where you will strip the threads .
The filter to valve body is 7 foot pounds .

If you have the steel mesh style filter , you can re-use it .

Thanks bud. I got my pan fixed today. My local mechanic done it for 5.00$ dollars so I couldn't complain. I don't get off work untill 8 am (stupid 24 hour shifts), but when I do get off I'm going to finish it up. It shouldn't take long.

 

Just incase anybody was wandering.

 

Yeah there's pretty easy to break. I ended up having to take the pan back off x2 to drill and retract the broken bolts
