Saturday, I was trying 1 more pass in neighbor's back yard before I quit due to wetness and I buried it 8" deep.....couldn't get it out and had to drive the truck over in 4x4 to pull it out. Got my 80+ year old neighbor to sit on it and use the controls while i pulled him out. UNFORTUNATELY, I didn't explain well enough to him how to stop and he never heard me yell to him to "stop". He kept driving in reverse after I got him unstuck and hit the truck. Initially, I only saw a mark on the bumper where the plasti-dip was removed, so no biggie!!!
The next day (Sunday) I go over to the in-laws to pick up some old deck boards and when I start to load them, I notice the quarter panel damage......SHIT!!!!

I know it "isn't totaled" but what are your guesses on the cost for a PDR fix????

Only called 1 company so far, located in NE Ohio in semi-rural area, but several more guys to call.

A good PDR should be able to get that. $400-500 would be my guess. PDR cant help the cracks or scratches

Definitely insurance claim … from the picture it looks like the bed is separated and dented . Might be from the angle of the photo.

The bed is not separated from anything. Told the PDR guy I wasn't worried about perfection in the paint - 8 year old truck with just shy of 70,000 miles.

Just pull the bed off and replace it with a flatbed. Problem solved.

You are not PDR'ing that, and liking it. The boxside is bolted on. Get a quote from a shop, to buy the panel, stone decals, and 4x4 decal, and refinish to match, with sprayable stone guard on bottom, like the factory. Everyone says they will "just be happy with"... You can pay now, or pay double, later. (30+ years in the collision industry). Ski

I'd leave it. Chances are if you give it to a bodyshop to repair it'll rust worse. At least if you're from the northeast. I've never had a good repair on a daily driver that lasted as long as untouched panels.

I am leaving it as is. The estimate was $1831 + tax, which would have been close to $1900 total. I can live with it as is.

Thanks everyone for your opinions and guesses.

Bummer man, sorry to hear that.

Even if you dont fix the panel, at the very least Id want to get some new paint in front of the taillight to prevent rust. And check the other spots as well.

Isn't white one of those colors without primer? That may be bare metal

$1900 actually sounds like a reasonable price.

I'm sorry brother! But shit does happen to us all. I view my truck as just another tool in my workshop, and thus it's supposed to get beat up by design. This would certainly suck but I'd make it look as good as I could and move on.

But others worship every square inch of paint on their trucks and this would drive them crazy! I guess your path forward depends on which camp you are in.

PS: it is a quality $1,900 story! :)

    I think so!
and still well under 10% (if not 5%) of the truck's value.
Unless it is a vehicle that’s driven until it's nearly worthless, owners will pay this either way, upfront or in trade in/resale.
