My truck makes some weird noises from time to time on a cold startup..... i was thinking the AC clutch. (Or does it have one!)
Cold is hard on stuff. Wait till its in the -30's! The clutch pedal will be stiff too!

Indeed, it was stiff for a few miles, even after pumping it for a solid 60 seconds while I let it warm up.

I once owned an old nissan hardbody, and one frosty morning had to drive from Saranac Lake to somewhere up in the eastern townships of Quebec for a snowshoe race. When I left at predawn, it was -27° f, and even with a block heater, that little truck barely started. It was so cold that the speedometer and the odometer broke. I had no idea how fast I was driving on I87 and then the 401, to get to my destination. Raced a 5km, then had to defrost my unit. Nothing some LTD and a pork gravy dinner couldn't fix, eh?
