So, I had the Toytec Boss 2.0 lift, alignment, and adjustment done on my '20 Tacoma just a couple of months ago. Haven't been off-road with it until today...sort of.

I loaded up the back with crap to take to the local donations drop off and their parking lot was so bad it should easily qualify as "moderate/difficult"on any trail guide. I hit a pot hole at "parking lot speeds" and Holy Shit! I almost broke my teeth it was so bad!:frusty::goingcrazy:

I got back onto civilized pavement and noticed my steering wheel was completely jacked. What I mean is, going in a straight line, the steering wheel should appear straight/centered. No, now it's at least 5 degrees rotated out of alignment. On surface streets it still stays straight with my hands off the wheel and, there are no vibrations or pulling of any kind. Same for highway speeds.

So somehow, my steering wheel alone got ripped out of position. Why am I telling you this? Really curious what could cause that. I don't know the mechanism, process, or parts for alignment/centering of the steering wheel relative to the front end. Can someone explain this please?

BTW, I called Anthony at Toytec (thanks, man!) and he is getting me in tomorrow for a look see and any corrective work.

Before I even opened this thread, I laughed and thought to myself “poor guy probably lives in Colorado…”

Nailed it. Damn roads and parking lots are getting so bad that I can understand wanting a trophy truck to daily drive.

Sucks man. Get it looked at/aligned right away.

It doesn’t take much to knock a Tacoma out of alignment. I’ve had my 2020 aligned twice already. In your case, it sounds like your alignment is fine but your steering box / tie rods got tweaked a little and a believe that can be adjusted.

The rack is mounted in slots. It can be shifted back.

This all can be avoided if you make sure to lay out some Maxxtraxx before you enter a Colorado parking lot.

OOOOh, you guys are funny!(absolutely NO sarcasm!)
ColoradoT3 was spot on,high taxes and high registration fees for vehicles and I need a Monster Truck :mudding:to get through town. In fairness, Wyoming's is worse. Maybe I'll re-visit the pot hole after my Toytec appointment today and provide a pic...with dimensions. Sound interesting? :pccoffee:Will also report back on what the damage actually was!

I recently took my truck on a washboard road which caused my steering wheel to be off centered by about 20 degrees, i also started getting a CEL and a VSC error message.
I had the dealer do an alignment about 5k miles ago and every time i went over bumps i would get a clicking noise in the front end which i attributed to under-torqued cam bolts.
Brought it back to the dealer and they charged $120 for the alignment plus another $150 as they had to recalibrate all my sensors. No more clicking noise in the front end anymore though. The one thing i miss about driving a solid front axle vehicle is you never needed an alignment other than adjusting your toe-in unless you damaged a component
The trucks driving perfectly straight in the photo

Kinda makes you wonder about the robustness of the lift.

I can imagine how whacked up it'd be after a trail run.

Wasnt there a few people saying their rack mounted were under-torqued? Seem to recall a thread to that effect at some point..

That is exactly what mine looks like! I knew that was Phoenix right away, we're from there originally and shopping for homes there now as I type this! All this discussion about weak front ends is making me nervous. Is it a lack of proper torque or, just a weak design?

Good question. I don't recall that, but I do remember a thread or two about the rack bushings getting torn up. I keep meaning to have a good look at mine.
