Got a mildew smell going on in the cab of my truck after it rains. I can't tell where it's coming from and the carpet isn't damp.

    Any thoughts?

I had this happen on my first gen ext cab n found my windo seal was old and no longer sealed. Since youve got a double cab id check your door seals. If not there you can spray water on the windows etc n check leaks

Check your carpet on the passenger side close to the firewall next time it rains. This happens in my 2012

Clarification: This is not related to rear seat stain mod.

Possibly, the carpet isn't wet at all so I'm beginning to think it's related to something else.

Also just check for decaying organic debris under the back of the hood/on the fresh air intake grill. It can get packed into the upper back corners behind the hood hinges. Once soaked, hmmmmmmmm, aroma.

Be sure the evaporator drain is not clogged, allowing water in the passenger side floorboard.

Take out the cabin air filter and with the fan on full blast, spray lysol into the intake vent under the hood. Lysol kills mold/mildew and doing this will not only work it through your whole vent system but also atomize it throughout the whole cabin. Do it with the vents set to floor and dash. Also, turn the AC on and hit it then, too. This will pull the lysol over the AC compressor where mold can build up.

I know this doesn't solve your problem of finding the cause but killing any mold before it proliferates will really help in the long run

The air doesn't smell bad though, the smell goes away when the air con is running.

I have the same issue. If it rains super hard I can notice a small damp spot in carpet on the rear pass side near the rear corner but other than that no wet carpet or noticeable leaks. I've heard it could be a bad seal on the cab itself on the backside resulting in needing to remove the bed to re-seal it.
