I know there was a thread recently about rock chips that got deleted, so of course today while I was washing my truck what did I find?

    Chips of course!

Nothing too bad, couple small ones on each of the A pillars and a few on the leading edge of the hood. I don't tailgate but still get debris getting kicked up from trucks in the other lane etc, luckily so far no chips or cracks in the windshield.MVIMG_20180707_204052.jpg MVIMG_20180707_204034.jpgWheres the best place to get touch up paint? Don't mind going to dealership but if there's good color match available online might go that route.

Try Scratch wizard from Tigard, Oregon. I have used them before and the paint matched perfect.

Dr. Colorchip system works pretty well. Not quite as well as their videos, but the best I’ve used. My experience has been good with the paint matching. Good luck!

Trail damage or do you dry it of with 200 grit?

Some from brush, some from the dealership washing it even though I ask them not to lol. I 2 bucket wash, but it'll still need to be polished at some point.

I could drive myself crazy trying to avoid micro scratches but I like to use my truck as a truck, so I just deal with it.

If that’s from a brush you need a different brush. Looks like you’ve been using steel wool lol. Those definitely aren’t micro scratches.

As for touch up paint I would just grab some from the dealer. It’s not that expensive and it’s the exact color. None of this it’s a black from a 62 Chevy that will be close, shit your gonna get from autozone to save $2. Although with all those scratches maybe you won’t mind if the color is a little off

Hahaha I mean brush as in woody undergrowth, the picture really makes it look worse than it actually is too.

I know this doesn't help OP...

But @Vbpiper, how big were those jobs where you used this product? The clearcoat on the roof of my 2008 has failed and I was hoping to fix it myself, but I'm unsure if it would be worth it.

I really want both but the 4Runner interior space is much better for my growing family. I had a 2002 Tacoma when my kids were small and I was trying to recreate it. But my kids are big now and have big bags and big friends. The 4Runner is more practical for us for now. I wish I could have both.
