This might seem like a weird question, but does anyone regret tinting their front windows?

I'm talking specifically people who offroad their trucks and need visibility out the side windows/need to use their side mirrors for spotting.

I know you can just roll down the damn window if your tint is too dark, but there are times when you don't want that window down.

I've always tinted my vehicles, but being new to off roading the thought had crossed my mind. Would like to have tint for privacy and to cut down side mirror glare at night/before sunrise. Would've been nice to have auto dimming side mirrors, Toyota. First world problems.

Anyway. Dark tint plus off roading. Thoughts?

no, I have no regrets. I have a fairly dark tint on all 4 door windows and on rear. I don't offroad at night, I could see that sucking though. I usually have my windows down when on a trail unless it's super dusty because I like to hear my truck, the rocks, etc...be more in tune with things.

I always have my windows down, unless its water or wet mud.

As always, we suggest going out with a green crew to an easy trail and experience it first hand before any decisions.

I have 30% tint, and don’t notice it at night. 80% on the front windshield too.

Some cars I’ve driven for work (valet) have super dark tint, 5%? 10%?, where I can’t even back up in a spot without the window down. I’d say about 20% is the manageable limit.

I have some dark tint front and back windows and go through rather tight trails at night. I'm a long bed so there are times I do have to roll down if it gets tight. I'd rather pull them down for a quick look just to ensure I won't scrape paint.

Yeah I've been out a few times so far. Some tight spots, but nothing crazy hard.

Only time I find it an issue is backing up at night. One day when I have time I'll wire up my back up lights.

Why not just do like 20% or 30%? My 20% is light enough that I have no problem seeing whether a deer has antlers or not until I am almost out of sunlight. At night it can be a bit hard to see out of but not terrible, and it looks fairly dark from the outside. I would not go darker than 20% on the front windows though.IMG_20191226_130851.jpg

Well yeah in that case I'd probably do 30% tint, and maybe darker on the back 3 windows.

Yeah it's all personal preference. Here in NorCal I kind of want to do a layer of 5 percent on the back windows just to keep people from seeing valuables because it's so bright in the summer, but the 20% is perfect on the front. The legal limit here is 30% but I just told the tint guy I'll deal with it if I get a ticket.

This is off topic but any opinions on a darker shade in the back for aesthetic appeal? Or same tint for front and back? Would be curious on opinions?

Really interesting question for off road purpose I wouldnt have even thought of that and if there would be any visual struggles.

I thought about it when off roading...would I be ok with having to roll down my window in all weather conditions to spot myself better with my side mirror etc.

I do like matching tint all around for the looks.

Dark tint is fine off-road as long as you don’t need to see. ;)

Never darker than 35% on the front and 20% on the rear is the lowest I find safe.

I do have clear fronts on the vehicle we off road the most.

5% tint is for douchebags and people who only drive in the daytime in AZ.

I like the look of the same front and back, it looks like the front isn't tinted much if you do the back too much darker.

My Taco came used with dark tinting on the side windows. I don't know how dark, but dark enough that when I drive by a strip mall after sunset it looks like all of the stores are closed.

It was great for the hot Arizona daytime sun. I hate it at night, especially off road. Now that I have left AZ, removing it will be the next thing I do to the truck.

I have 20% tint all the way around on my fusion. Over two years and 49k miles. I drove a lot of those miles at night. 20% is hard to see out of unless it's sunny. If turning on to any street that wasn't well light after dusk, I would often roll down a window to make sure I could see. I love the look of the 20%, but my eyes not so much.

I do believe 20% would make it harder to see in the woods around here. That being said, I haven't decided if I am gonna do it anyway yet.
