Well, I can barely pick up the strongest station in town so I know FM works. I'll just suck it up this weekend and look for an antenna solution next week.

my FM works perfect but I also live in a very small island lol.

 

Some stations are acting weird for me in and out. Some are perfect

 

How’s the app been? I just downloaded it. It’s telling me to buy it lol

 

Actually not even using the launcher any longer since I got the CarPlay dongle, strictly using that as it has everything I want on it for daily use and now that I have verified ios13 working with the dongle I’m good to go for a while

 

Only thing I don't like so far, when you put the truck into reverse and the camera comes on the music cuts off

 

I pretty sure you can change the cutting of the music while in reverse. Its in the settings somewhere, I have mine attenuate the music instead of muting it.

 

My unit randomly didnt turn on this morning. Worked fine last night. Tried pulling the main cable, not working. Tried the reset button and havent been able to get it to boot.

 

Did you buy it on ebay or Amazon? Contact the seller see how they handle their "one year warranty"

 

Amazon. I'll see if I can get it to boot somehow if not then I'll try the warranty... usually amazon works really good.

edit: I just asked for a replacement thru amazon. not dealing with them really... should be here by Tuesday.

My internal mic was also low and with static so maybe my unit wasn't good to start with.

 

It's charging the phone, just slowly

 

Got the wireless carplay "working" had to connect to the bluetooth part of the dongle, then it automatically connects to the wifi part.

 

I sent them an email about having bad radio reception and they sent this back

"Have you pluged your radio antenna to our ANT hole?
(obviously have done that)

If you have done it, please connect the blue wire in the radio antenna to the ant conj wire in the power cable.

(Going to try this out)

And have you connected the ground wire to your car\\\'s iron part? (the wire seems too short to connect to any ground part, might extend the wire)

My memory sucks, but I recall that wire in the antenna adapter causing the same issue for me. Once it was connected I was fine. This was on another brand by the way.

 

I was chatting with the aliexpress Dasaita store, and they recommended this head unit

Does anyone have any thoughts or feelings about it? It looks quite similar to the ones being discussed in this thread.

 

Link didn't work for me. But I guess if it has the canbus wiring for all the tacoma stuff it should be fine.

The radio antenna was already conjoined to the power harness. I extended the wire so it now reaches a ground point... so far it seems successful

Look like it will, ask them to be sure. Remember that you need the version with canbus.
