Exactly my point. Get in the car and have it connect automatically not have to toggle. Plus your phone is generally limited on how much you can tether where you can get an unlimited data only plan that also has tethering from it or the car setup. My goal would be to have the car have its own 22 gig or whatever the unlimited is now a days. rather than the 5gig of tethering. Not the end of the world but allows it to have its own data set.

For your nighthawk @Boomer3731 does it connect automatically all the time or do you still find yourself having to connect it? Just getting an idea. i find myself having to reconnect BT and Wifi alot right now.

I haven't touched it since I put it in the glove box last Friday. Connects every single time.

Great, just what I wanted to hear. I do like the idea of it always running. did not realize that about the spark when I first looked at it. 30 min if im waiting for some reason would suck if it turned off. If I can get a good deal may do the nighthawk. What type of data plan did you have on it?

My wife and I share a 12GB data plan but we are under no contract right now. I might move to a contract with a new "unlimited" plan though.

Just read up that hot spots are not qualified under unlimited plans. Thats a difference from the spark to nighthawk as well. The spark has a car only unlimited plan where the nighhawk has to share existing data. May not be a big deal for many but I am also on a shared 50gig plan but with several devices on it and we ran out last month. Seems like they had a lot of nighthawk hot spots on unlimited plans and off loaded it last year.

Actually wondering if I can get a tablet data plan and just use that sim card on the Dasaita since it technically is like a tablet. ATT has tablet unlimited plan for $20. Spark shuts off after 30 min, nighthawk is limited in data plan but the tablet plans are unlimited for $20.

Anyone add a sim card via one of the dongles they offer?

If I'm correct, the only thing that is OEM that you can't use with this HU, I'm actually getting the 10.2 version but same insides, is the stock Mic? Has anyone gotten theirs to work with an adapter, or spliced something to get it to work?

Does the iPhone have an app like Tasker? From what I understand, the Android version can be set up to turn on hotspot when it connects to the HU via BT, then turn off on disconnect.

If you're jailbroken I'm sure its possible but there is nothing on the AppStore that can do this, to my knowledge.

Just an FYI, you can order this unit direct from Dasaita w/64gb ROM on eBay for $400 and have them add wireless CarPlay for a $30 add on. They provided all the wiring harnesses I needed for the camera and everything else. I didn't have to splice wires.

I actually removed my stock mic when I installed my Pioneer system prior to this install. So I'm not actually sure if it integrates with the OEM mic. Is that an option they advertise? The one that came with it wasn't long enough to wire to the factory mic location which was pretty frustrating!

A side note mentioned earlier I believe. You can cut off any plastic side mounts from a Scosche kit or Metra and use them to mount to the dash without having to drill through metal.

This is probably what I'll do. Don't make these in PLA though. Use PET, PETG, or ABS for the heat.

Just did this yesterday. Mounted to factory brackets with one screw on each side with this hole location (2011 non jbl, Dasatia PX6). The factory screws do not fit the holes on the new unit so you have to get a couple that do and I knocked the top 2 locating bumps off the bracket with a dremel so they would sit flush. ymmv
