The only reason ill add in the setup I had for the front is I can toggle it on and swap with some steering controls. If I find I can program it via the head unit I may do that. Its more of the instant access rather than the app. prior a double tap of a button enabled it, it was nice. Well see what the full setup is once i get the right cables.

 

You have to go back to the main screen and hit the app, why spend an extra 165 for something that’s quasi built in

 

You may be able to program it. I have not tried yet since i have the wrong cable but you can pretty much program any of the steering controls which may cut out any other parts needed. Kind of hoping for that.

Yeah, it also depends on where you buy it. I bought a PX6 and Canbus separately on Ebay yesterday but the Amazon listings show it coming with canbus. ::shrug::

 

They all come with a harness and if you told them you have jbl or a camera should have the canbus. When I bought mine they told me the wrong one to order so had to buy the canbus separate as well but should have came with it. Taking forever to get here but will arrive tomorrow.

PX6 has been mostly great to use. This is probably the same for any of them but apps randomly close on me if I am running them on the unit not through carplay. ie: pandora will turn off. could be the tethering connection but thats a con so far. the wireless carplay sometimes takes forever if at all to connect. its great when it does but sometimes I am waiting for trying random things to make it work.

Happy with it so far. picked up additional TMPS external sensors. Came in today. (been having issues with the ones in my truck not being able to be programmed so gave it a shot.

would love it if the factory ones would pick up. I’m sure I’ll knock these external ones off.

 

Anyone get Gaia to work? I know a few myself have downloaded it and allows you to login but mine will not pick up my location which defeats the purpose of using it.

 

I'll fool around with it more this weekend. It'll be a week or so before the kit ships. I can always cancel.

REALLY want a steering control or switch flip rather than a bunch of screen navigation.

 

Im sure it will work the various options hook up to the factory screen wire anyway so your really just swapping video signals. I wired up the anytime rear myself and thats all it really was. I was going to do the same with a switch for the front before I found another solution that uses a canbus just for the camera control on the steering wheel. Honestly cant recall which one. If you look on aliexpress and the related sites that sell the HU they also sell switches if you want to run front/rear and side cameras. I thought about testing that out down the line.

 

Right on, thanks for the info. I might just cancel and revisit. It's a pre-order that has been out of stock for some time. As we all know, the harnesses are the thing with these components. I'd rather pay a premium for PnP, but 165 is steep.

 

I hear you there. I had purchased this before I had decided to go with the Android. super plug and play and connects to the factory harness. Controls are all via the steering controls. turn on or off and switch cameras all from the steering. Hoping to get that back or similar.

Anyone with a canbus wore setup have a photo? They sent the wrong one so I ordered a new one based on their feedback and record it today. It does get the camera to work (although my anytime did not work) did not bother with my front setup yet) the big frustrating part is the steering controls did not wot on the new one which leads me to believe they sent another wrong one. Looking at the connections front factory to the new ones it’s missing wires.

trying to find out the right one. So close gain camera lose But lost controls. For now I put the old harness back in.

 

Did you try different car setups from the factory menu? And also the button mapping page?

 

You gotta change the factory settings to number 8.i had the same problem. I have the Px6 10.2 in screen but I'm sure there isn't any difference in canbus or the setting

 

You have the right canbus. Go to settings > then the one that asks you for the password I think it's either car settings or factory. I the password is "126" then you have to go to canbus and choose rav4 for the steering wheel settings to work. As far as the back up cam. make sure all of your connections are in. You have to hook up all the RCAs to the right ones and then you have to plug the rca harness into the right back up camera slot there's a diagram on top of the unit that will tell you which one it has to be plugged into. Slot D. if that doesn't work. take out your back up anytime kit it's fucking it up

 

Thanks did not know about the RAv4 settings. The camera works just fine so that is not an issue. The anytime was not working but thats a different issue. Its a home made anytime kit so not one of the prebuilt setups.

 

I have a 2015 non JBL tacoma and I installed the PX6 unit. I ordered the non-jbl harness unit without the canbus. Everything works including steering wheel buttons (most of them) but I wasn't able to retain the backup camera with the harness provided. After searching around I came across this harness: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33007954244.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.7f394c4duivguO. I believe this is what is needed to get the factory backup camera working with this unit. I am waiting for it to arrive but it is taking forever. This harness also included the 12v to 6v converter needed for the factory camera.

 

Ya I got to standard one as well and ordered that but still has not arrived. I ordered the can bus after which already came. Still waiting on that part. I’ll try the RAV4 setting hays key if I need to change something.

may a minimum that part should do what you need. I may switch to that.

 

Does the 2015 still have the camera video go to the mirror? or did they smarten up and make it go to the head unit
