Thanks. Do most aftermarket units do this or how can one tell if or if not?

Im trying to find a comment, I think someone stated theres a website we can send our OEM HU and get $400 no hassle.

I swear I scoped every page/comment in preparation for mine coming on Tuesday (Metra Brackets dont get shipped from Amazon till the 16th due to supply I assume)It be nice to upgrade the unit for essentially a free trade off.

Have anyone went through this process and actually got money for their OEM head unit?

they won’t accept our Tacoma headunits as of a year ago I think. I’ve been emailing and asking them for months. Either dead end emailing trying to get ahold of “Scott” who’s always on vacation. Or they send you an email saying they have to many of our oem units so they don’t want the surplus at the moment and will notify me when their stock has depleted

Has anyone been able to use the other two usb inputs. I can’t get them to even recognize my usb drive or charge my phone. I only have data/power through the single usb. Is there a setting to activate them?

edit* I am an idiot and had the two usb hooked up into the wrong slot behind the stereo. Put them in “e” when it should of been “f” so they both work

When you plug your phone in does it read it or does it charge only. It only charges the phone for me, I can’t seem to get it to recognize my phone on the head unit.

Maybe if they weren’t charging 1500, they’d actually sell some!

Nope, initial load is maybe 20 seconds or less. Not minutes.

Anyone here who’s using the wireless carplay have any issues with the Zlink connection? I was able to get it to work one time...but then never again. Just says “waiting”. Followed the directions, it’s connected to bluetooth, even tried a factory reset.

Not off to the best start with this new head unit, even if it’s impressive in many other ways.

Perhaps a dumb suggestion, but have you tried unlocking your phone? Zlink will occasionally not connect to my phone if its locked.

just order the canbus adapter. the sellers will help you. If you have 2012 or newer with camera or jbl you will need the canbus. outside of that adapters for usb and gps if you want to use the stock ones. thats all in products discussed below or the thread.

It has a mind of its own sometimes. locked phone, sometimes teh bluetooth disconnects (when you though it was on). Try togging it on/off. Sometimes (my wifes car has this issue with BT sometimes too) make sure you have audio or gps running on one of the carplay supported apps.

Prob a reason most carplay setups are wired but its nice when it works but I do get this same issue as well.

For all those with wireless carplay issues... in addition to checking for a bluetooth connection, also check your wifi connection. Wireless carplay uses wifi. Go into your wifi settings and check for "AndroidAP" followed by some number. Once bluetooth and wifi connections are in tact, zlink should switch from "waiting" to "connecting". One other tidbit i've experienced, if I am at home in my driveway and my phone is connected to my house wifi, it wont automatically switch over the the head unit "AndroidAP" signal.
