yeah i just need to get an iphone as carplay is superior. The fact that android makes the head unit but they cant support wireless android auto but i have wireless apple carplay is annoying. Also apple has split screen car view now so thats where I need to be to solve most my issues.

also i dont know how it is with apple and Siri but my google assistant sounds terrible.

yah google is a bit of a shit show. If you click on the mode that shows all current open apps (give you have a up to date OS or the Hal9) If you hold the app you can drag if left or right for split screen as well. I still use carplay mostly as I do not have an internet connection on the radio and my hot spot never stays connected long enough.

yeah i gave that a shot with having spotify and maps open but its a pain setting up the hotspot every time. Ultimately this is just me complaining about having to plug in my phone and waste a total of 2 seconds. Iphone 12 will be my savior in a few months.

overall the px6 has been a great unit.

for my android users. There is an app called automate where you can create automated tasks and whatnot. i downloaded one from the community section of the app (search wifi hot-spot on after BT connected) that enables hotspot when the bluetooth connects to the headunit. (just make sure you select your headunit as the bluetooth device within the flow.) This works and will enable your hotspot without having to manually do it each time.

iphone users im sure you could do something very similar using shortcuts. Theres a whole community of people that make some wildly advanced ones.

welcome! I feel ya. I do not use it that way as well as setting up the hotspot is a pain. I may add on a mobile car hot spot for $10 a month or whatever it is so that is no longer an issue. A few folks here have that running.

Now only if they could build that into the HU. Did it work for you? My biggest annoyance is some is that all BT device are not ready by the HU. It is probably the BT module but some of my car accessories such as a battery monitor, switch pro, solar controller would be nice to have available via the HU but it never finds them.

Here’s a video of my struggles with mounting the premium bezel back on after installing the px6 head unit. Maybe you’ll notice that I have the after market mounting misaligned somehow.
    https://streamable.com/wynka7

I eventually read through this thread and ended up installing the factory rails onto the head unit. That seemed to Sit better. Still a no go!
I gave up, let this rock for a little. Then it popped back out :) https://streamable.com/wzwwzr
Last resort - Feels more secure, but still shit: https://streamable.com/5hbo8l

Any tips? Video of how radio sits with factory mounts

^^^Yeah mounting wasn’t fun, if you look way back I think I posted pix of my modded Schoche bracket, you really need some slotted screw holes to get it to sit just right

Just reporting in on my CarPlay issues...loaded the Hal9K rom and the latest update to Autokit app and am running CarPlay wired dongle in the “fluency” setting in the Autokit app and have had multiple good start/stops with no issues with CarPlay launch. I do let he HU fully boot and let he BT connect and then plug in my phone and this results in smooth CarPlay connection, patience is key. I’ll do the Hal9K OTA update soon and will report back on that...hope this helps with ppl having CarPlay issues in the Dasaita rom..

Is everyone updating their HU’s as soon as they install or should I wait to update? Does the current update make a huge difference? I’ve heard of people saying that they’re having a hard time with it. My PX6 just arrived and I’m just thinking ahead of what I should do when it’s all complete.

I installed HAL9k soon as I installed it because I hated the look of the px6 launcher.

I couldn't get the Dasaita update from 4/23 to install on my unit so I just went with the Hal9K, it looks better, adds functionality and has lots of bug fixes

I'm so lazy. I have the Hal9k sitting on a thumb drive that is residing in my truck, in the cupholder and still haven't done it.

Last resort failed lol. Came into the truck this morning to find the bezel on the floor.

Honestly, what did people do exactly to get this fit correct?!

if the bezel popped off then i think your not tucking the harnesses away properly. Sounds like your head unit isnt in far enough. Tuck the harnesses below and off to the side... Have the oem bracket in place with the 10mm bolts hand tightened. Once you do that youll see one area where bolts line up to connect the bracket to the radio. Honestly one bolt on each side is all you need, its all i have on both sides.

if your using the plastic crutchfield bracket then you have to shave a bunch off to make it work.

finallly got around to this. installed the MCU and for now used the MOD version (need to figure out how to root it.). The new app did not have those cool sliders on on it. Did you get that to work? Or what steps did you take? I am missing something

MMM, THANKS FOR THIS! I'll have to check mine out again in the morning. I rewatched my video just to get a quick look of my placement and it looks like I have the top spot of my bracket much higher than yours.

I’d have to search for it but I bought the custom 3D printed brackets someone linked.
