Welcome to TW! I kept my cam in the rearview. Maybe some of the other guys that have made that change can give you some insight.

Can anybody comment on how this unit looks while wearing polarized sunglasses? The first review on Amazon seems like this would be a serious dealbreaker.

Just noticed this yesterday and thought I would post something on here... I was wearing my polarized glasses and thought the screen was dim. Took them off to see what was going on and it was at full brightness. The screen is polarized and oriented in a way you cannot see it while wearing polarized sunglasses (unless you tilt your head). :annoyed:

Ah, yea, just like any other touch screen you look at..

Right, but I think some screens are better than others (different design?).

I am definitely not an expert and my limited google-fu shows the double polarization(?) is very YMMV.

I *think* some IPS screens are polarized along a 45° slant while others use some kind of circular layout. I *think* the lenses in the glasses are designed to be polarized strictly along the horizontal. So variations on the screen, the lenses, or the tilt of the head are going to contribute to issues. Lots of variables with no real opportunity to test view a unit if you don't already own or have access to one.

Do the Pioneer, Alpine, etc. units have IPS screens with the same issues?

So what's your recommendation? Would you call it a slight dimming that is noticeable or a complete blackout that makes the HU unusable?

I can't even wrap my head around this solution if it actually works...:confused::confused:

The unit is more expensive and more useful than a pair of polarized sunglasses. I would side with the unit and just go buy new non-polarized ones instead. Problem solved

The screen is almost completely blacked out with my glasses on. For me its not a deal breaker, I have other non-polarized glasses I can wear or I can just take them off to adjust the radio.

This wasn't a problem with my OE screen. It seemed like it was "polarized" at 45 degrees instead of horizontal like this one.

Has anyone had any luck making this silver instead of the black it comes with?

Did you change the settings for the canbus? I changed mine to RAV4 and works like a charm.

What sorcery is this? I guess that makes sense why I Dont have the issue on my phone since I’m rocking a tempered glass on it. I wonder if we could find a tablet one that fits. I haven’t been wearing my polorized glasses because of it.

I had swapped mine to black. The base model is all black. I do want to paint or wrap the surround to be matte black instead of gloss. The gloss is out of place.

I had wired my unit to show on the screen and mirror when I swapped in a 2014/2015 HU. For mirror only you will need to run a wire to the radio. I do not believe it will work without doing that. The older 2012/2013 sos not have a wife going to the HU for video.

Run both. Mine is setup to use both. Anytime only seems to work in the mirror at the moment reverse shows in both and you still get the temp.

Anyone have links to the updates for the PX6? Haven’t really used the XDA forums before. I’m sure I need some updates.

Iris at Dasaita, sent me this just before Christmas, I've run the update as described and it's the newest, don't really see any difference in it I have not run the MCU update yet, flaky download site wants my CC info and I just do not like putting the CC info out in the freakin internet..

Please download, then ONLY put update.zip file to the usb (format the usb firstly).

Finally click the setting > system > system updates to update it.
(If you can not download the file, please change the Explorer or computer to do it. If it ask you for the Credit card id, just create the sendspace account then you can download it, do not need to write your Credit card id information! )

Here is the link for you to follow the update file :) Btw your version was max6 version, you need to follow the update for max6.
