Anyone had a jbl stock system? I’m seeing it might be shitty audio output?

It’s mediocre no matter what setup. Prob better with JBL since you have amps. I plan to get a DSP and amp for my setup down the road

Does anyone know how to get the OEM USB/aux jack to work w the head unit? I'm trying to get a cd player to play. I have a cable going from the OEM USB/Aux to the head unit USB in the back.

In most cases, if the external device uses generic drivers then it just works when you plug it in. For some of the non-standard devices, if you are connected to the internet when you first plug it will attempt to acquire the drivers. Just to make sure that the cable adapter to your OEM usb/aux is not part of the problem you might want to try to plug the device directly into one of the HU USB inputs.

I'm curious why you wouldn't rip your CDs to MP3 and load directly on the HU?

I don't know how to rip things. I'm a 38 year old dinosaur when it comes to that stuff. It's the Aux cable port that isn't working. I'm happy to hear any advice how to rip my kids Disney CD's if you don't mind!

Thinking of upgrading my stock speakers in my 2007. I'm not an audiophile, and not interested in a separate sub, just feel like I can get better sound out of the Dasaita with speakers that aren't 14 years old. Am I wrong? What should I look for?

Crutchfield is definitely your friend in researching audio equipment. They have the specs for a wide range of options and will sanity check installations if you put in your vehicle. There are a couple of threads with the audio upgrade philosophies from economic to audiophile. I would suggest the following as you begin your research:
    1) Get separates for your front sound stage.
    - If you don't want a sub, get the largest cone size available. 6x9 works well (and don't get caught up in distortion debate).
    - Shoot for the lowest freq response range with the highest efficiency.
    - Tweeter makes a serious difference in any upgrade.
    - Prepare to do a little fab work to make things fit. Be prepared to change wiring to accommodate crossover
    2) Get the most efficient speakers possible
    - This won't necessarily give you the highest sound volume, but will make the most of the Dasaita amp structure.
    - If you go the coax route for the bottom speaker, the mid is more important than the bass.
    3) Rears are optional
    - Nice to have to fill sound, but if you're looking to cut cost then this is the area
    4) A little bit of sound deadening in the doors while you have them open will pay dividends.

No matter what, virtually any aftermarket speaker option will make a major difference in sound quality once you move beyond the stock HU. Good luck.

What are you guys doing to securely mount this headunit in place? ITs just held in by the top to plastic tabs and mine likes to fall out.

Did you pull the yellow plastic tabs off the stock HU? Also, I have mountain brackets I think from metra that bolt into the bottom, buy had to drill them out. Got that idea from another post around here I think.

The yellow tabs will get you by. But I did notice a bit of vibration while offroading so I simply added some Velcro, did the trick and filled the gap. Just haven't got around to drilling out the OEM brackets... It's 3 years.. One day I'll get it done.... :D

I do have the yellow tabs but when I hit bumps it pops out. I’ll have to dig through 55 pages to find what your talking about, hopefully that works. Thanks!

After trying to match up holes, I actually used some small industrial velcro squares. They are adhesive both sides and I stuck them to the radio and original mounting brackets. The velcro allows some play but is easily repositionable. I had to make them slightly "tighter", but once bolted it they settled in a firm position. They were supposed to hold 20lbs each so I think I'm good.

Ok. It’s been doing it all day today when I get in my truck. 30 min drive to and from work. So idk what’s up with it. Hopefully it’ll be fine tomorrow but if not I’ll have to reach out to iris. Anyone have a contact for her?

Mine did that awhile back and froze a couple times. I used the restart button and it worked for me.
