Is there a way to change the backlighting on the dash? Gauge lights, radio buttons etc, I swear I heard somewhere you can but I'll be damned if I can find it.

You can make it dimmer or brighter, but cant change the colors. Turning the odo switch will change the brightness.

There is a option in the radio to change some coloring though, I dont remember where because I removed mine, but there was some menu color or something. It just changed the little header bars or something in the radio and I think in the screen in the cluster.

Not sure if newer radios have the option.

because the pioneer's color changing feature was designed as a gimmick to pad the options list over other radio's.

are you saying your truck doesn't have enough gimmicks the way it is?

Nope it doesn't even the cheapest head units have that ability. Even Walmart's house brand DUAL has it

You can change the color of the display between the speedometer and tachometer.

Your Pioneer wont take you over Black Bear pass though!

Is there a way to turn on the tachometer and speedometer lights without the headlights being on?

You can change the color in the menu. It’s a setting somewhere. I found it once and the other colors were awful.

There should be 4 light settings on models with DRLs and 3 for trucks without.

Off -> DRL -> running lights -> headlights
Off -> running lights -> headlights

For the instrument cluster at least, the gauge backlight leds are soldered to the circuit card. So replacing them to change the color is out. FSM even says to replace the entire cluster if those leds stop working.
