The reason I asked about an "as installed" pic...
I was wondering if it is necessary to use the clear plastic box thingy (like shown in this image) to mount it in your truck?

Nope, not necessary to use the waterproof box. There's another holder or cradle in the kit and a number of different mounting arms you can pick from.

    Edit:

@DES2009 , for some reason the accessory kit I got with my SJCAM 4000 is slightly different from what is depicted on Amazon for the same product. I double checked my order, and the link I provided in the previous post is correct. Anyway, here is the stuff I got in the box, see circled item:

I got a Vantrue N2 Pro and modded it for the GoPro mount. I removed the suction cup and 3D printed a GoPro adapter and cover plate for it. I wanted to keep the GPS and I thought the $25 they want for a shipped Ciro gopro adapter mount is excessive anyway.

I'm also using a <$5 battery cutoff that I got on ebay. You can turn the brass screw to set the variable resistor to cut the voltage off where you want. I have it set to cutoff at 12.5V. Some voltage cutoffs are way too low. There are versions with dip switches for set cutoffs instead of the variable resistor if you don't have a power supply to set the voltage.

I hope to mount it today after work. I need to figure out how to take off the MESO fuse cover hah.

I felt the stock mount for the Vantrue was too long, so I made a much shorter one:

    Sorry, TLDR.

Did someone have an adapter to make the Rexing work with the GoPro mount?

I have a Viofo A119 V2. For me it seemed best to just remove the gopro factory mount than to bother with hardware. Options for dash cams increase accordingly.

I use the HERO5 Session to record when I am driving my truck or riding my motorcycle. It has a really nice field of view so even though it's to the right of the vehicle more it can still see a lot. I record in 720p at 30fps to extend the battery life but it is capable of doing 4K.

It's super convenient to be able to use one device for both too.

I have the same dash cam temp installed right next to the GoPro mount area. Id like to install it like yours. Any chance you could show the parts and how you attached it to the F800
Just curious, how far from the windshield is the lens, sometimes at night im getting reflections from the entune/nav display.
    Thanks Mike

That's where I originally installed it. Then I had my entire front windshield tinted and didn't wanna stick it straight to the film in case I ever decide to upgrade to a different camera and mount. I bought a rexing to GoPro mount adapter off shapeways, and then cut off the tab and used a bunch of thick cyanoacrylate glue. Seems to hold up well, but time will tell. It came out ugly, but you don't see that when its installed. I do get a little bit of glare when the headlights are off at night (and nav turns on full brightness.)

Thanks for the image. I have 2 of the same gopro mount plates for the rexing unit from shapway to. Just didn't like how hard it was to remove from the windshield mount and seemed like some of the black dot matrix was in the camera view. Might have to reevaluate see if I can't make it work. Yeah I was going to do the same and wack the little rexing mount tab off.

The dot matrix doesn't show in mine, but you can see a little bit of glare down on the lower corners of either side (crummy screenshot might not show too well.) You're right about removing it. I had to use needle nose pliers to squeeze the tabs a bit the first time I tried to remove it because I didn't want to break it lol. I figure if I need to take the camera out, I'll just slide to the side side to take it off the F800 mount itself.
