So that still adds weight to the rear view.

They make the gopro mounts with adhesive on the back that look pretty much the same. Don't doubt you could make it work. I'm reluctant since I have my rearview in my old jetta fall off like 20 times after cleaning and gluing. I also noticed the sun shade black part thing on the windshield with all those little black circles could affect how the adhesive sticks. I'll use the DMM then maybe get a mount to go on a roof rack once i get one of those. so many things to do to these trucks

That was my other thought. Stick it on the DMM in between the 2 phone mounts. Might just go that route. Just don't want to pay shipping again for a Ram Ball for the DMM. Lol.

Lol yea I really wasn't too sure what I was ordering when I got the DMM last month. Now I need the adapter from ball to ball for my gopro and a phone mount with another screw in ball. oh well. Amazon prime has stuff

I stole @johnnyroid rainy day picture to illustrate how I plan to mount my new Dash Cam 56. I already received the camera and the ball-to-ball arm. My mock-up image uses an actual picture of my cam and the arm. The double-socket arm and the adapter I plan to use to attach to the existing GoPro mount haven't come yet. I used an online pic of the double-socket arm in the mock-up.

I actually like you used my pic as I can visualize how the set up would look in my truck, so for that I thank you! Once you get it all put together would love to see the final product!

I buy the cheap Chinese ones from Ebay ($20 shipping included), and their good for about 2-3 years at a time. The most important feature I look for is one that uses a screw to mount into my GoPro mount, instead of the stupid suction cups that fall off a few times a year.

They are good enough to see license plates.

+1 for Garmin 45 or their other similar models. I like that it's tiny and hidden behind my rearview mirror so I literally can't even see it.

Ditto to post #56: What is the cost of the Toyota and how is it wired into the head liner?

I'd like to know the base model cam that Toyota is using for this? I doubt it's proprietary.

    yes

Although the riser i'm talking about is simular to this
    http://www.birddawgindustries.com/tacoma-mirror-riser.html
and if you add a big old hunk of 3M VHB tape to the back and stick it to your windshield, that should even out the loads.

I've done similar to mine and am going on 5 years with it installed.
