Has anyone installed a dash cam in their Tacoma?
I do not want to tap into any wiring unless it's factory. Is there a hot lighter or usb port anyplace on the 2023 tacomas?

Many here, including me, have installed the Garmin Mini 2. You can buy a Dongar power adapter and plug it into your rear view mirror. It works well and it's tiny compared to other dashcams.

I went with a Viofo camera powered by a Donger power adapter. Easy as pie. Doesn’t show at all from the driver’s side (no display on this model).

I see you already installed yours but for anyone else checking this thread for ideas: I installed the fitcam x. It installs behind the rear view mirror and replaces the trim piece that covers the radar sensors and looks nearly factory. It comes with a power adapter so there aren’t any wires hanging around. The picture quality is good enough for me but it does lack some features like sound recording

Edit: there might be sound recording, thanks to rednecktacoma22 for pointing that out, I’ll update after confirming

Edit 2: there is sound recording on this cam. Just had to turn on the setting in the app

I looked hard at the mini 2 but no gps, haven't read enough on the mini 3 from owners to make that decision but again no gps, love the tiny format though. I am leaning toward an Amazon listed Viofo A119 Mini 2 @ $85.99 along with a few accessories. Dongar is running 30% off right now on the 12 pin adapter, which is on its way. This forum is awesome, I read almost daily but rarely post as you all are so far ahead of me.

I have the Viofo A129 pro duo. I've had a A119 on my other car years ago and installed similar ones on my family's cars. It was one of the first mods I made sure to install.

*Forgot to mention I have it tapped to fully utilize the parking mode when I'm away.

Doesn't the rear one interfere with the opening of the rear window?
Also where did ya get the hot tap from?

No. I made sure to have the window open when I was installing, it opens to the passenger side. The Accessory tap is on one of the USB outlets and the Always hot tap is on the Hazards fuse, I originally had it on the sunroof but it was inconsistent. I made sure to label it when I originally installed it.

I have a FitcamX in both my Tacoma and my wife's Highlander. Both offer sound recording. Mine was installed in the truck in December 2022 and my wife's was just last week, so maybe you have an earlier model than the 2022, but I suspect you may be able to check the settings and turn it on? Let me know!

i put in a piece of black t Track and bolted to the dash. it was flush with the trim you cant even tell.
use ball mounts for phone and accessories. have the camera plugged into cig outlet. 3D printed the camera mount from ABS for high temp. not to melt.
bought some Chinese brand from walmart for wub $60 USD. it bricked its native off brand Micro SD. upgraded to 64GB card anyway. no issues.

TOGUARD 3 Channel Dash Cam 1080P Dash Cam Front and Rear® with 64GB SD Card Infrared Night

wanted front and rear camera integrated in the unit. camera can see out the back rearview enough so that if anyone rear ended me it would catch it. didnt want to run wires.
