(I don't know much about trucks)

I have a 97 2WD that I got recently. It has a dashboard clock. That clock is broken. It is cracked, I assume that it why it does not work.

I have seen several places on eBay that advertise repairing the clock, and so I would like to do that, but I don't know how to take the old broken one out. Will the rest of the electronics still function if I remove it and just leave a big square hole where it was until it returns?

Can anyone tell me how to take the dash apart, step by step?

    thanks

Front dome light added, light reminder added, door chime mod, added 2nd gen 4runner headrests, grey wire mod, 2lo mod, more later.
I think all you have to do is unsnap the bezel that your clock and ignition switch is mounted in, unplug the clock wiring from bezel then remove two screws and remove clock.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
That's about the most useless place for a clock anyway...you have to lean one way or another to even see it. I pulled mine out a while ago and put two switches in the hole instead. Yes, everything will run just fine with no clock. If you really want it, I'll send you mine for $10 delivered.

    1. Remove the lower panel beneath the steering column (1 screw and 4-5 10mm bolts)
    2. Pull the climate control slider knobs off of the levers
    3. Use a little hook to pull the climate control faceplate out. It just snaps in/out, but be gentle.
    4. There are two screws holding the radio/climate/vent dash trim piece in. Remove them
    5. The trim piece has hooks at the bottom so unsnap it from the top by pulling carefully but firmly.
    6. Now you can get the ignition/clock trim piece out.

Yeah, I agree it's a useless place for a clock, but I'm gonna go with it anyway.

Deal! Awesome. Thanks, that saves me a ton of time. Do you do PayPal?
