I'm not really feeling the dash mat. It looks like you literally cut up a piece of carpet and laid it down.

I was gonna take it out when I bought the truck. Then I figured it won't hurt anything so there it sits. I agree that they're not very good looking.

they wouldn't look so bad if they were a one-piece, hard shell that fit like a glove... like fiberglass or plastic... and if rubberized would almost look oem... giving me an idea for a new mod! oh my god, did he say new mod! where!

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
AH ! Yeah I see where this could go. Shit wouldn't slide off if keep it there.

I remember infomercials many years ago, 30 +/- years that claimed the mat was to keep the dash from drying out and cracking and also helped to keep the inside cooler using a lighter color vs the dark dash if the car had one.
These days the windows are better at deflecting the UV and AUV ? and the other V's that the mat is probably just pointless.

Guess some like it some don't. I like the one my dad had for his first gen. Guess cause it wasn't so big. Don't know the reason my pops got it. But I believe its for heat. My tacos dash gets pretty hot, feels like it warped sometimes(at work there is no shade to park it). I use armor-all for it a lot. Maybe some people don't want to always lather it up with armor-all.

I live in a desert envirment and the mat helps keep the dash cooler. It's just laying there...not secured. I take it off when the temperature gets below 90.
