I have had a 16 trd offroad for 6 months now and I just started hearing a cracking noise from dash when driving down the road. It's not all the time but every once in a while I hear it. Anyone else had this issue?

There are a couple areas that have made noise a couple times for me (usually if the truck has been in the hot sun, I'm assuming the plastic expands to the point where it can rub). Either the speakers on the dash (driver or passenger side) or the panels by the side view mirrors. Try pressing on those when the noise comes up and see if it goes away.

My house makes cracking noises when the temp changes at times, but as long as it goes away when acclimatized and not make itself at home, all is well!
    Cheers!

I have found, where I thought noises were coming from wasn't accurate at all. I thought my wifes car dash had rattle, turned out to be headliner. Point is you might not have cracking dash even though you swear it is that area.

I have the same noise coming from the passenger side top dash. Really annoying when I have a long commute and want silence. Sometimes leads to me smashing the dash with my fist. I know it won't fix it, but it makes me feel better.

I had the same issue. Turned out to be something I put in the glove box and forgot about...

Mine does the same thing, sourced it to the speaker that's on the dash on the passenger side. Almost like a buzzing noise.

Coming up to my 5k service in a couple weeks here. Not sure if I should try fixing it myself or have them deal with it

It's not the speakers. It's coming from the middle of the dash, kinda behind right in line with the radio. It's not heat related either. Does it in the morning and afternoon. I took everything out of the glove box. Still doing it. Guess I will have them look at it when I take it in for the 10k service

Mine is coming from the exact same area, am having a hell of a time trying to track it down. Already tried the spot next to blower and dash speaker covers, mine is not coming from there. Also, have one from only the drivers window when cracked about 1-2 inches.

Let me know if anything is found for the center of the dash one.

Not sure if this helps but I had the exact same issue. I tried all the recommendations on the forum and my fix was to wrap the cable harness under the glove box in felt. I think the noise is coming from the electrical tape wrap material that they wrap the harness in. The sound then echoes up the dash and sounds like it is coming from the passenger speaker/dash area. Once I put felt around the harness the sounds went away (or is just being muffled by the felt).

Your mileage may vary but for me this worked.

Mine does the same. I thought it was normal, at least that is what the service advisor told me.

there was another thread where they placed some cardboard on the side and it solved the issue. Looking for it...
