well, as long as you have the polarity correct (you can check posts on TN and XRU for pics of the board and the ways the LEDs face) you shouldnt have a problem. another check would be to plug the cluster in and go around w/ a volt meter on every LED to ensure is getting some juice. i would suggest this route before you re-soldier any more LEDs.

also, if the pads are coming off the board, you just might have screwed up your cluster. dont mean to dishearten you, but thats a fact. not sure exactly as i havent seen a pic of what you are talking about and dont know what it looks like underneath the pad, but it does worry me.

also, if you have soldiered the LEDs so many times, there is a chance you have destoryed the LED by doing this. i know some say that they can only handle a certain amount of heating, and you might have pushed the limit?

post a pic and hopefully the above helps you out.

I just did this mod to my 2008 Scion XB and the guages look good and I was contemplating doing it to the Taco. The only issue I found with the whole process was that I didn't try turning it on prior to putting all components together and it didn't look so bright to me so I took it off and connected the console/circuit board without the guages and found that there was 6 LED's that didn't light up. After finding the culprit (1 LED) that wasn't soldered all the way and was fixed it really looks great. I will be doing this Mod soon and it looks like I will be getting rid of the stupid Sensor light once and for all :D.

for guys, potential girls, who are doin this mod and are not sure which way the LED is suppose to be facing....you'll notice the the notch in one of the corners of the LED....that notch is going to be in the same position as the tiny white dot on the board....match those two up and you shouldn't have a problem with polarity

if your LED still doesn't work, its because, either a poor solder joint or you heated that LED up too much and it fucks it up and therefore, doesn't work....

I changed the needles and numbers to blue and changed the "P" to red and need to replace some of the OE green lights. I changed a light on there and used green and it is so much brighter than the other green.

    post.jpg

the only reason i posted that askin how many LEDs i needed was bc i didnt have time to search when i asked. truth be known i search the shit outta the forum when & if i ever have an issue i need to figure out. and when u use the search button, u cant type in a question and get an answer, and it dont lead u to where u want to go, hence my straight up question.... so :p

that post link works for me as well... don't scroll when you click it!

If anyone is lost and in the NE area, I guess I can help with this mod. Personally I haven't done it, but it seems simple for me. I'm experienced with soldering. Bring your rig and plenty of beer to the Cape.
