Had the oil changed yesterday by a local that I've used several times. 66K m on the truck now. After starting the truck and driving a few blocks I noticed I had no Tach or Speedo light and no lights for the climate control. I went back to the shop and showed them what was going on and they had no clue. Fact is; Now when you turn on the headlights, the Tach and Speedo and Climate lights come on and the Audio dims. So the audio lighting is doing what it is supposed to but the other three pieces of the puzzle are backwards. Any ideas? Thanks guys you always been very helpful in the past.

Are you saying that when you manually turn on your headlights that the tach, speedo, and climate control lights do turn on?

How old is the battery? How much corrosion is on the battery cable ends?

Thanks to all of you. I will check the battery cable ends for corrosion, seems likely suspect. And Duke, just moved last year from Grand Junction to Southport, NC. Sure miss the mountains but my wife can breathe a lot better here. BTW, the dash light dimmer was only affective when the headlights were on. Also, opposite of how it is supposed to work the Tach, Speedo and Climate Control are off until the headlights come on. Happy New Year,

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but aren't the dash lights supposed to only come on in DRL and headlight on mode (and radio dim so it isn't blindly bright at night)? Does this function differently with auto lights or something?

Probably. Had that happen on mt Tundra when the dealer reset the service indicator. Took about 3 seconds to figure it out. But I had the advantage of having already reset the indicator myself.

No your right, as I am reading this his lights are working exactly how they should be. When the headlights or running lights are on, the dash lights are on, when they are off the dash lights are off... thats how tacomas work.
