Alright, so yesterday I replaced the bulb on shift console, when I finished none of the dash lights worked or the tail lights?

Earlier in the week, I had the shift lockout problem, and discovered that the 10amp STOP fuse had blown. I thought I may have smashed my cap third brake light wiring in my tailgate, but it looked fine and that connection is fused itself, which hadn't blown? Replaced the STOP fuse and back to normal.

Did I not connect the bulb in the shift console properly??? Would that cause all the lights to not work?

The relay for TAIL in the engine compartment is fine?

Or do I have a problem in the trailer harness??? I have never used the trailer harness, and it is capped as it came from the factory? Can I clean up the trailer harness with CRC or disconnect it somewhere?

Did you check the TAIL fuse?

Is the TAIL fuse different from a TAIL relay??? I have a big black relay marked TAIL??

    Yes, it's a 10A fuse.

Sounds like you blew a fuse or two, easy fix once you locate the problem(s). Ben will walk you through it.

Well, found that, thought I had checked everything...replaced it and it pops immediately.

Maybe I did something wrong when replacing my shift console bulb??

Sounds like you have a hot wire shorting to ground. What type of bulb did you use?

Yeah, I have checked that, haven't replaced it, but, the TAIL fuse keeps popping. But, this only happened after I replaced the bulb on the shift console?

    Thanks, though

Could you have pinched a wire putting the consol back in place maybe? :notsure:

Have you tried removing the bulb and then checking/replacing the fuses? Does this allow everything else to work (except the dash)?

Sorry if these are the most simple and seemingly ignorant questions, I'm not questioning your intelligence, just trying to walk myself through it online (and sometimes the most simple solutions solve the problem).

So, I tore everything apart again, put the old bulb back in again and everything worked! No popped fuse! Shazam!

Made a second attempt at replacing the bulb with the new one from Advance and everything worked!! I did keep checking everything as I was putting it back together!

Perhaps I put the bulb in wrong??? Didn't think you could put a bulb in wrong?? That will teach me to be doing this in the dark, on a stormy nite in Chicago.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

Maybe your trailer harness? Or one of the wires split?
