Well, on my 2nd gen (the one pictured) it fits like a glove and covers everywhere the sun hits... it keeps the dash from fading. Living in a desert envirment here the dash gets very hot... the mat fixes that problem. Also, mine isn't secured with anything... it's held in place between the dash and windshield. Being that the 2nd gen dashes are painted i wouldn't recommend useing any type of adhesive or double back tape on it.

It was the cheapest one... called "carpet" (might be the original?) Got it through AutoSport. Color... black.

I suppose there is a unanimous decision for dashmat then. But I bought mine on sale from Auto Anything for $20, good fit

If you mean original then yes, but sadly I can't find any on sale now, there all like $35.

And just so you know when it says carpet, don't think of carpeting in a house, not the same.

My 2008 Tacoma has to sit out in the weather every day so I thought a dash mat would protect my dash. Am I thinking right, or is there no need for them. I have been looking at the CoverKing dash mats, the molded and the suede. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is the best one, or if one is not even needed.

What is the brand and model of the dash mat in the picture and are you fully happy with it, how does it attach?
