Actually may be wrong on that, I'm not sure if the 21 is different from 19. I don't have the 21 wire diagrams on me at the moment.

On a side note, I just found this on Etsy when I was trying to find out of the overhead switch panels changed from 19 to 21. this is pretty cool, texture looks pretty good for a 3D print. you may want to think about throwing a switch up there while you have it all ripped apart. Not sure if Air on Board makes a switch that fits that or not.

Ideally I'd like to find the constant power wires for the overhead lights. Those have to work

I already installed a simple rocker switch next to the diff lock switch. Looks ok

Thats what I was thinking, I started snooping around on the overhead lights, but I think they may be going to the BCM on a timer. can you leave one of them on and see if it turns off? or if I can get to my other computer I can check a better schematic. Im using Mitchelle and I dont really like it. Im more of an all data fan for wiring diagrams.

I'm thinking the power draw on the dashcam is so minimal that it shouldn't affect anything. It's 5v at 1.5 to 3 amp so I can't imagine it being a problem.

If your taco doesn't have the sliding roof, lower the fuse from 20A to 5A or less. Add the missing wire and terminal to the overhead from IN1 behind the sail panel.
P.S. Always hot (battery) circuit, not IGN.

So I wired it up to the overhead console and spliced into what I think are illumination wires and added a switch. So far everything works great and all the overhead components work with no issue.

What wire (+) position did you use?

Interesting, it seemed to be on the whole time I was in the car for over an hour with everything off. I'm test it out more tomorrow.
What about pin 21? That one seemed to be on as well.

Door was open and you didn't disconnect the ground cable to battery negative.
Leaving the Overhead Illumination switch ON provides power to #21. Flows from same source.

Question remains is there a wire in that harness that stays on indefinitely or are those my only options? I guess the 20 minute timer is not a bad thing

    No wire always on.
If you were to use #21 and turned off the overhead illumination, you'd cut power to camera.
Again, if you don't have a sliding roof, that circuit just requires a terminal and wire to the camera and a lower amp fuse. It's located on connector IN1 which resides behind the sail panel on driver's side.

So, I ended up going with the Dongar Technologies Dash Cam Power Adapter, and it was literally plug & play.

I was originally concerned because my 2 way (long range) car starter also plugs into the back of the mirror, but it all works.

Not an real issue, but the cable included to plug into your dash cam is only 9" long, which fits, but could be a little longer as it's stretched to the max. I may replace it with a slightly longer cable someday.

But highly recommend it, and glad I pulled the long cord that went all around my window frame, under the dash at the passenger footwell to the plug in the middle console by the passengers kneecap.
