Taco Garage - Dashtop Multi-Mount (DMM) - Securely mount ANYTHING to your dash

Has anyone attempted to use Hondo's phone cord clips with the DMM? I don't have a lot of confidence that they'll work given that the DMM top plate looks like it eliminates any of the bezel gap they hook into.

 

Sorry those will not be compatible with the UNLESS you just use some double sided tape and glue them to the DMM,

 

Question, I’m new to all these vehicle mods. Will this work on a 2019?

Completed this a couple weeks ago, really liked the product. It’s overkill, and I like that about it.

 

I come from an aviation background and I've just become very strict about making parts better than they need to be. The DMM is far from being a structural component or some kind of safety critical component of the truck but I still tried to build it like it was. Glad you liked it. Thanks again for buying.

Thats awesome, theres just not much more I can say other than... ME WANT.

 

It definitely has plenty of wrap around the plastic. I was surprised when putting it together how well it wrapped around. I love overkill.

I used it yesterday in dead stop traffic just watching directv app. So it’s a stress reliever as well lol

 

My biggest thing is i have an ipad mini i can mount to arkon. Also after a few weeks of use the ram x grip rubbers started coming off. As wel as the fact i remove my phone often and w the xgrip i would basically have to pull over to remove phone.

 

I have 1 gen. I put a nylon washer and it hasnt moved since!

What would you like better a power outlet with external wire that connects to your standard power outlet by the shifter or one that you have to wire internally behind your screen?

 

Behind the screen would be super clean. I guess I will wait to submit my order to see if you come up with a clean solution.

 

Some of the X grips come with stuck on rubbers, others don't. I'm not sure if it is a batch issue, particular part number, or what? I just put a dab of cyanoacrylate (crazy glue) on mine if they ever slide.

I agree that it is a two handed operation to put the phone in, even more so if you need to avoid a button or some other feature. I can get mine out single handedly, squeeze with finger and thumb and grab with ring and pinky?

In the end, it's all good and is great that @FreshMexicanTaco supports the open discussion. I'm just a big fan of them, they haven't let me down, and all most all the folks that I ride with use them which is why I started using them.

In a perfect world, I'd wish that I could make myself happy with a magnetic mount, but I can either see that they are too weak to hold the phone securely or the magnet is too strong and messes with the phone. I've heard of both problems from folks that I know.
