    Got my DMM!!
Install was a breeze, great product AJ (TacoGarage)!! Install video is spot on.
For me power source should be USB A ,
no need for C , that’s all we need for power and lower cost. C offers speed something that won’t be used here.
I would most likely have set length cables that will always be in the truck, it’s sole purpose.
Went with Hondo mounts, being an x machinist I can appreciate good workmanship when I see it. Worth the $ for a lifetime mount, just like the DMM!
    everyone!

Not sure if this will work with your plans for power adapter.... but right angle would look cleaner

Not sure why link dosent work??
But here’s a pic of the one I was looking at.

@Steelhead Taco , there are other differences between USB A and C that I personally find important: much higher power output (20V, 5A), bidirectional charging capability and non-polarized plug. Everything is moving towards USB C, so I think it's an important consideration.

I'd rather have the option to utilize all those 12V, rather than be limited by 5V?

*shrug* maybe I'm in the minority in that regard, but I only see devices getting more and more power hungry and requiring larger and larger battery capacity as we go into the future. Either way, even if we end up getting USB-A now, I'm sure it won't be too difficult to convert to USB-C later......

BTW, are those Luci lanterns in your window? If so, I'll toss out this caution. I have gone through two now that used to work all night long when new. After about a year sitting near a window to keep them topped up, I can only get about an hour max out of them. I am guessing that the daily cycles put a big memory hole into the batteries. I plan to buy one more and store it in the dark, only charging it when needed.

The made excellent emergency lights, but not worth the cost for a use or two.

You can find 12v smart charging USB A cigarette lighter adapters. But the value would be greater if your commute was short. For me sometimes windshield time is long to get back out into the woods.

That's great to hear. I might have been hit with a double whammy? I'm not sure what the generations were, but my first one had clear PVC over the solar panel and one button. My second one had the frosted PVC over the panel and two buttons. Both were the basic clear sided ones.

The frosted PVC over the panel never made sense to me. I felt it slowed charging and made the charge lights hard to see.

Although, a friend had a similar issue at least with his first one?

I still think it is an amazing design idea. I just need more longevity out of it.

I agree on usb c being the future but I’m only a one person shop here so it’s not so easy to develop things like these, and I don’t want this to turn into vaporware,
... so far it’s looks like usb a will be released first. Just so I can get something out sooner than later.
But both WILL be available at one point.

Has anybody tried using a Quadlock mount? They have a ram ball option I thought about picking up the DMM and quadlock case with ball for a lower profile/footprint mount.

They also have a wireless charging plate but not sure if it can be mated to the ram ball version.

Looks like it would make it easy to swap from truck, to bike, to motorcycle.

This is the first time I hear about these mounts but they do look pretty good, you could use this adapter with the DMM....

    NOT cheap though...

Exactly, it starts to add up, $60 for the phone case and ball mount, then add $30 or so for the adaptor needed on each bike/motorcycle.

Placing my order for the DMM in the meantime.

I’ll post a review and pictures after everything arrives. I ordered the DMM, short ram double socket arm, and the Quad Lock case for IPhone XS with ram ball mount.

    $112.90 for everything.

I love this product, just did 6 days in Death Valley drifting around corners on dirt roads at 55mph and it was solid, same when climbing obstacles. I use a Scosche XL magmount for my iPad and a smaller one for my iPhone, they hold great.

I got the ram mount 2” plate, then the magic mount sticks to that. Rock solid and easy on and off of the iPad and iPhone

It’s the XL one, in the ad they show the iPad on a wall. It’s great, but I put the metal piece on the outside of the case for direct contact
