I bought 2 6ft lightning cables on Amazon. Ran them behind the console, behind the radio and out the DMM. I just plug them in a cigarette charger. Very clean, and I didn't have to do an hardwiring or major console disassembly. While the radio trim is off, just unbolt the radio (4 screws), rest it on the shifter. then I ran a stiff wire from the bottom at the front of the console on the passenger side and curved it up toward the radio. After a few tries, finally got it to come out the radio area. Taped the cables to it and fished it back through.

How does this hold up to the weight of a full size iPad and iPhone XR for off road use? On your website, I assume the $42 large tablet holder kit is the one I want for my iPad? Lastly, with a full size iPad, how much is the forward view out the windshield blocked? In my mind, it appears this would block the passenger front corner view. Pics of a full size tablet mounted from the driver's seat would be great if anyone has them. Thanks.

See below/here for mine with an iPhone XR, radio, and an iPad Mini 2 (not full size though). View is barely blocked and it does great offroad even on washboard trails. I used a double socket arm for the iPad but they also make double socket swivel arms and double socket arms with extensions that would allow you to extend it further and lower. The longer lever arm you have the more movement and loads you'll see on the iPad though.

Thanks! I had not seen that iPad mount when I was looking at the available options. I like the way the balls can be mounted off-center on that. That will work for me. Nice write up too.

I’m looking to order this, but can’t decide between the magnetic or non magnetic kit. Anyone here have both? Any cons for the magnetic? I have an iPhone XS Max. Thanks

Well I just ordered the non magnet one, is everyone else using aftermarket mounts (ram)? Is it compatible?

I have both. I use the magnetic one for my iPhone 8, works amazing, I use the low profile mount for my iPad mini. I tried using the iPad mini on the magnet, and it held without a problem, but while you're driving, if it's not perfectly centered, it will slowly vibrate and turn slightly. I think it was is just a little too big for a single magnet, so I stuck to using it on the regular mount. I think with the XS, you would probably be fine with either. I much prefer the magnet if at all possible. It's so quick and easy.

Dammit! Already went with the non magnet :(

Thanks for your response though, I messaged freshmexicantaco and got no response...funny his customers were actually more helpful.

So for the magnet you can’t have a case on your phone?

He's usually very responsive, I'm sure he's just busy. I'm sure he'll respond. I talked to him quite a few times on here. If it hasn't shipped yet, I'm sure he'll let you trade it out.
I have a thin case on mine, and I have the plate mounted to the case on the INSIDE. Sticks great. You can also stick the plate to the outside of the case, which would probably work even better.

Yes you can. Just place the metal strip between the back of your phone and the case. The mag mount will now be magnetically attracted to your phone (through the case). I use this mount with my iPhone X and it works great.

Sooo just got mine in and my backing pieces are pretty bent...some more severe than others. Will this be an issue? 8D1C7065-B604-4FA8-8CD6-57A2121B64A0.jpg5D404136-94DE-4FE2-9BC8-EA71B0DF950E.jpg

No mine were the same way. They work great. The screws suck them up into place.
