Guys, just a quick update on my experience so far with the DMM...

I’ve had it for several months now, and it remains as rock solid as the day it was installed. Highway trips, rough roading, crossing mountains on dirt roads...not a single change. @FreshMexicanTaco, this needs to be patented!

How do you like this charger? Heat issues? Speed? Strength of magnets?

 

I’ve had my DMM since February or so and my wife is dying for one for the 4R as well! I’m thinking I might just bite the bullet and drill through the dash for a single RAM ball mount (I’m trying to picture the spot in my head, but it’s above the volume knob, left of the AC vent, I think I saw it on Trail4Rs page)

 

Just ordered the DMM + 2 ball mounts & swivel mount kit. Noticed on order that immediately following swivel mount is x1. Does this indicate there is only 1 swivel mount?

 

Has anyone found a dual USB 12V-5V downconverter like this that is 4.2A or 4.8A? Seems everything on Amazon is only 3A. You can find the 4.2 or 4.8 in the socket style but I'd rather use this type behind the dash for my DMM install. But I want the higher amperage to keep up with GPS and fast charge use...

 

I want to order this mounting system, but before I do, what's the best way to run a USB power cord to fast charge my note 9? And possibly a second power cord as well for the passenger side. Won't be using GPS or tablets. I've tried looking for a video/picture tutorial but have come up empty handed. 2019 OR AT if that matters. Any help is appreciated

I replaced my cigarette lighter socket, but there's no reason you couldn't just tuck it behind the dash and run your cable through the slots in the DMM. If you ever needed to get to it or replace the cable it's only two panels to pop off. The radio bezel, and the HVAC controls both come off with no tools.

What are you trying to charge/run and what rapid charge protocol does it use?

 

Charges 1% about every 3-4 minutes. Theres a built in fan. Magnet is pretty decent. The roads here are pretty bumpy with all the pot holes and it holds good. Just dont put any stickers on the case or charger. Kept sliding off on big bumps. Took the stickers off, works perfect!

yes, you would receive the DMM, 3 x 1" ball mounts, 1 short arm and 1 phone mount kit with a swivel joint.

 

DMMs usually ship within 1 or 2 business days, this last weekend was an exception because we attended an off road expo in Utah, but we are caught up with orders now.
