This is exactly why I keep the GPS on my phones turned off until I actually need them. And besides, they're tracking you just within their own store, not from store to store.

I was in an accident (not my fault) a few years back and got into a very heated issue with an insurance company because I pulled the EDR out of my Truck because they went looking for it in the tow yard. I was threatened with lawsuits by the insurance company and I told them go ahead do it.

More like a product that's being sold. In the eyes of many you are only worth what you consume.

 

But at what point do you put a stop to it and say enough is enough?

I get into a heated argument every time my Dr asks me for my SS number.....

 

They're all over us. The UK has about one CCTV camera for every 11 citizens, some Smart TV's have the capability of perhaps watching YOU, every credit/ debit purchase can be watched in real time, every search you do online is logged and stored. If I look up widgets for sale, I'm bombarded with widget ads for the next week. Your smart phone is a gold mine for tracking your moves. The more apps you give permission to spy on you, the more you're spied on. Every post you make on Fake Book can be monitored by the government and your private messages. They call them "external communications" so a warrant is not needed to spy on them. My grocery store is all over my purchases. Number plate technology is watching you out on the roads. The Government has admitted using drones to spy on American citizens for " non-military purposes" Voice recognition, Etc, Etc. I 'm not sure what to make of it all, but we sure have become a world obsessed with spying on each other.

 

I think the real question as a consumer is how do you say enough is enough? Can you say enough is enough?

 

I think that is the number 1 question we have given up so much we are way past the the point of no return and we continue you give up so much.....

I think this Facebook stuff going on now has brought some attention to what we have given up. Are enough people waking up to the bells going off now? We see how Students cried for safety now have clear back backs and now say they don't have privacy. I have never signed up for FB and never will as I said years ago this was trouble.

 

What are the legal issues?

 

Interesting, nobody here has made a connection between data mining and AI.

 

That was my next question here, even if the third party possesses it because of a legal obligation to do so does this cross rights of privacy and individuals’ everyday activities are routinely captured in digital records? These critical issues surrounding the government’s collection and use of personal data for data mining along with other companies involved would there be a need for a search warrant? Could this be a backdoor to the 4th Amendment?
