@St.Germain Any progress getting the budbuilt traction bar back on track?

After a couple trips out on some soft, but heavy melting snow, the axle wrap on my 20 Pro is atrocious. The way the shifter bounces around is almost embarrassing lol.

Anyways, looks like budbuilt is really the only viable option. Any sources you can recommend?

Also, do you know if the 2nd Gen budbuilt trac bars are compatible with the 3rd Gen?

    cool pics.

bud's trac bar fits 2nd or 3rd gen. but we're talking about the bar specifically, and you cannot rely on any pre-fabbed solutions for mounting & real world use that I've found for the 3rd gen MTs. but i haven't tried his bolt-on bracket for this bar. he used to sell it and now i don't see it on his site. but I'm still saying the bar itself is good if it can be mounted right.

with the shutdown i haven't done much. I'm waiting on the shop to reopen. then I'm finishing up this round of front-end work.
    - new adjustable end links
    - realign for 5° caster
and if i can make it happen this round:
    - reinforce steering knuckle
    - weld on coil bucket gussets: https://www.chaosfab.com/accessories/2016-2020-Tacoma-Weld-on-Coil-Bucket-Tower-Gussets-59653

and then returning to the rear. I'm planning to add Timbren active bump stops to the rear and deal with the trac bar, but the bar is a lot of work and i have other things planned, so I'm trying to plan ahead. i also want to box part of the frame, add a HH crossbar, relo the spare, so I'm not sure how and when yet. but the Timbrens are easy.

once you get the drivetrain awake on these MT trucks the axle wrap can be a bitch on a stockish rear. my shocks have been a big help with that. the Foxes never even helped at all while these kings have it under control.

Just curious, given the past problem, why not go SUA? Wouldn't that counteract the wrap?

yeah I've been looking into 3 link setups for all those reasons, but i have wrap under control mostly unless I'm fully on it. it's another reason I'm holding back to consider things before committing. it's my DD afterall. and it was just in the shop for 3 weeks.

    Whew! Not losing my mind.

I do regret that my folks never got one back in the day. Or any other Subby for that matter.

A friend had a turbo Brighton sedan with the MT and manual T case and adjustable suspension. That thing handled so well, at least compared to what I was used to, malaise era GM crap.

i had a stripped down 5mt Impreza wagon getting beat on pretty good while i was waiting for the Tacoma. that was one of the inspirations for the Tacoma kart thing. i liked the truck but wanted the dexterity back.

Pretty much the same. TJs, lower price JKs, Tacos, older WRXs, and Legacy 2.5GTs were on my radar. All of those hold a premium around here. Finding those Subarus that were not modded out was pretty much non-existent. The main desire was a WRX hatch.

No regrets with the Taco though. I like it more every drive and wheeling trip.

If the border was open I’d offer to purchase it off you assuming you’re willing to ship.

Happy enough with the Kings keeping the axle wrap in check?

well, it'll be here i guess. no plans with it so you can catch up later if you like.

and yes, the Kings are so good that with those and OV throttle control I'm totally good. nothing to fix. but if the TTs get on my radar later...

Just wanted to say that I hadn't seen this until today and I'm glad you got it all installed and that it's working well for you!

If I had a Tacoma I would probably do the same.

I didn't see it listed, or maybe I missed it, but what tire size are you running and what kind of shock travel do you have on your setup?
Also asking this as it relates to the CMC thing a lot of people do to fit 33s.

I'm hoping the below parts combination will help me fit some 33" skinnies so I'm always trying to compare/see if anyone else has done what Im hoping to build.

    TRD Pro 17" Wheels (PTR20-35110-BK)
33" BFG K02 (still deciding on a few specifics)
Accutune 05+ Tacoma Mid Travel Suspension Kit, Stage 4 – King (With SPC Control arms)

I'm hoping the forward caster adjustments will do the trick.
I may also step up to 33s but start with 32s to compare a few things.
