My first aid kit for the truck is almost done.

In the left pocket are NPAs, 14ga needles for chest decompression, CPR mask, and a SAM splint.

    20160914_162903_971063e205a2e42e51b64550d7311bb64ba49357.jpg

In the right pocket is a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, and a pulse oximeter.

    20160914_163002_c119040d3addc6d84bd8ee2cb514bf18944f277a.jpg

In the front pockets are shears, penlight, forceps, gloves, bandaids, glucose gel, and an emergency blanket.

    20160914_163239_40dc78b51c2eaad49096c0cb43129b58c764ca11.jpg

Right interior pocket has more bandaids (can't have too many), instant cold packs, saline flush, two tubes of eyewash, bag of general stuff (ointments, iodine wipes, alcohol wipes, burn gel, etc.), ibuprofen, meclizine, and loperamide.

    20160914_163412_dbd5e70b29061e2b7ef5e7c2c5351bc0ddea08e1.jpg

The left interior pocket has a large ABD pad, smaller ABD pad, gauze, tape, coban, triangle bandages, IV start kit and tubing, H-bandage, sutures, lidocaine, syringe, filtered needles and injection needles. Not pictured are 20 individually wrapped 4x4 gauze.

Items I still need to add: chest seals, glucometer, bag of normal saline, bottle of betadine, and I'm sure a handful of other things.

Well I've pretty much decided on 315/70/17 Cooper ST Maxx's unless someone can convince me otherwise. I have them on the wife's 4Runner in 285/70/17 and they work great on the road. Unfortunately that's where my truck is 90% of the time. My understanding is that the ST Maxx's do perform really well off-road also though, so we'll see.

I won't be able to remind you on Tuesday. We have a dog and pony show at school all day for the Governor and Mayor so I won't have access to my phone. Just set a reminder on your phone. All I need a price on is the ST Maxx. I'm ready to purchase immediately.

Dave... correct me if I'm wrong, but are you a doctor? I've never seen anyone with such an extensive list of medical emergency supplies..

I'm not. I like to be prepared for bad scenarios though. I've had quite a bit of first responder training, I'm almost through nursing school, and my wife (who has an identical kit in her 4Runner) is a nurse practitioner that just finished her doctorate. Her father is a nephrologist, mom is a nurse, brother works in infectious disease, brother's wife has a masters in nursing, sister is a speech pathologist, my stepmom is a nurse...the list goes on. To say we're a medically inclined family would be an understatement. It wouldn't take much imagination to see someone on a trail experience some major trauma, and first line response can completely change the outcome for someone. I honestly hope I never have to use anything in the kit, but feel better having it around just in case.

Stock Pro suspension, plus Toytec top plate spacers up front, and Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL in the back. I ordered some Wheeler's Superbumps last night too.

Not only was it a wrong turn, you were trying to catch up to people who weren't in front of you.

Glad I give you the warm and fuzzies.

Infectious disease is pretty interesting stuff. Think Outbreak, not health clinic. ;)

OK that sounds better. Until a world threatening disease actually outbreaks and everyone turns into zombies. THEN his job will really suck. Haha

i got caught up on a root on a small incline at one of the points where we slowed down to a stop for a second. I tried to get up it in 2wd which is what put me behind. Put it in 4wd to get over it, then tried to play catch up there after. Then i got lost because I missed the turn while everyone else was cussing me out :anonymous:

and is the chest decompression needles the ones that go in between the 2nd and 3rd intercostal ribs or something? (similar to a sucking chest wound?)

Correct. 14ga needle that either second or third intercostal space, mid-clavicular line to treat a pneumothorax. Sucking chest wound is caused by penetration of the thoracic cavity in which air builds up outside the lung and prevents it from inflating. You relieve the pressure outside the lung so it can inflate. You'd also put an occlusive dressing on the original point of penetration to prevent more air from entering the chest cavity.
