My grill arrived yesterday and it took longer to wire power to it than it took to install it. Nice grill, I really like it thanks Danny

Thanks for the compliment. I took a real good look at mine before it was installed and i’m convinced that I could easily replace the LEDs myself if need be. I have used many LED strips in the past that claimed to be waterproof that didn’t hold up to the elements. They are inexpensive and easy to acquire.

Man if I lived in Hawaii I would give you a hand. Do you have any buds that are good working with 12 volt LED light strips?

These are 12volt LEDs I know of no way to increase the brightness however I do dim mine using the SwitchPro SP-9100 software. At night they can be quite bright. They are a attention grabber, I can watch heads turn as the Tacoma passes. I have people follow until I stop to ask if I made the LED panel. Danny needs to send me a stack of business cards to pass out. LOL!

I figured Danny would take care of you, and i’m sure you will do OK with the replacement. Since this hasn’t been done before you may want take pictures as you go so others can see the process. I would like to see a couple of close up shots of the light strips myself.

If it were me I would remove the complete grill assembly after disconnecting the power wire to the LED and lay the entire grill on a large towel for disassembly. That way you won’t scratch the powder-coating, then slowly have at it. (Please remember the pictures, we’re learning here)

I almost messed it up big time lol
Ill share my experience about this thing
Hoping itll help and dont go through what i went through hahahah

    Test fit
The holes for the screws dont fit right
If you forced it in the grill will not aligned right to the plastic
Made the holes bit bigger so i can movwd the grill up down side to side perfect fitting with the plastic
I have used may soldering iron
    Just melt the plastic
While the grill is in there
(You dont want the holes too big)
Then use blue loctite thread lock
    DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN
It will bend the plastic this is a very rigid grill
    Just snag fit is enough

Heres one of the bolt and the holes
    Its a tight fit
And if you just forved it in
It will not sit prefectly with the plastic
By making the holes a bit bigger you can perfectly align it with the plastic
    Centered
And the easiest way to make the holes bigger soldering iron just melt the plastic20190429_102408-1.jpg

I’m really curious to see what the plastic panel looks like when removed from the grill. Three questions I really have is what attaches the LED strips to the edge of the panel, is the backside of the plastic panel lightly sanded to help transmit more light, and lastly I would like to identify the type of LEDs used for the panel. A few pictures of the panel front and back would be great.

I have a project in mind for the SPORT hood scoop coming up and these responses will really help.

Did you take any shots of the LED panel as it was removed or replaced? If so I would really like to see them.
