Crawl control not needed Low range and 1st gear. The rear locker Is one of the reasons I love this truck. and the looks, no scoop.

I got the OR for the better suspension and the locker.

Unlike the other configurations, the OR MT comes with A-TRAC, and that with a 1st gear in 4LO is pretty much all you need to just crawl up and over stuff.

Autos are so boring to drive, and the MT has better acceleration. I can understand why people drive autos, but it's just not for me ...

I'm curious why you would consider "just getting" the sport instead. If your going to get the manual trans, the sport and the off-road cost the same amount. The sport has a few more body colored parts and a hood scoop that doesn't do anything other than block just a little more of the view out. For the same price the OR has the locker and arguably better suspension.

I'm really curious about this. Am I missing something? You see so many people buying sports, there must be a reason.

The air dam and tires (both things that you can change easily) do result in slightly better EPA numbers so I can see why Toyota might push the sports for their CAFE numbers (making them easier to find on the lot).

The OR doesn't come in AC with Manual transmission.

Not bad for romping on back roads, looking for floods.

The trans and clutch are great. You really have to try and stall it. The clutch has a firm feel to it, not like a Honda civic ( sorry I hate squishy light clutches... I'm a big truck 4x4 guy.. I like to leg press my clutch lol)
But its not too firm to where you're foots completly dead. However I find it to be very forgiving of mild errors and such.

This is my first 6 spd, and first reverse being next to 1... I accidentally took off from a stop in 3rd.... And the truck did it lol

I'm looking at the manual, can someone talk about the clutch start cancel (version of crawl control)? It would also be nice to see the interior overhead of a manual. Also is there a brake assist for on inclines where the brakes for for 5 seconds?

Clutch start cancel is not a crawl control nor does it have anything to do with crawl control. Here is a pic of the overhead console. Mine is slightly modified but you get the idea.20151219_110015.jpg

That's just what someone told me.... That the truck will move forward when using clutch start cancel and taking your foot off the brake without driver input. What about hill assist holding for five seconds? Someone told me that as well.

Mine rolls. Im glad it doesn't have that stupid hill assist.

Clutch start cancel simply allows you to start the truck with no clutch input. If you're in gear, its going to take off forward.

Clutch start cancel is for when youre stuck royally. You engage CSC while the truck's engine is off, leave the truck in gear and you can actually use the truck's starter to creep the truck out of a situation.

Yeah I knew it didn't regulate wheel spin individually. Just didn't know exactly how it worked.

How bad is CSC for the starter? Sounds like it would definitely give the starter and battery a workout lol
