I will say that if you have something to tow and want AWD, get the Highlander. The AWD sienna is not tow-rated. Otherwise, get the Sienna...

Thing that bothers me about the awd sienna is the lack of spare

I know due to the awd packaging they say they couldn’t do it

With new sienna coming I really wish they sell it with spare

Wow this post is so spot on. I agree with and have lived through everything you describe.

When I was a kid my family had one of these. As a kid you think these things are awesome. As an adult...you don't want to be seen within a block radius of one. My dad later got a 90s 4Runner followed by a mid-2000s Suburban so those were more cool to be picked up from school with.

    We never had prévia

Our master ace Toyota was cool

    Glass roof

All seats could be turned facing each other (now Honda comes 30 years later with magic seats)

We had oem cool box for drinks

    4wd
    Mid engine
    Van

I was trying to decide between 4runner and Tacoma. Got 2 boys and a dog. Went with the Tacoma. From what I researched the 4runner was just slightly more leg room. But the ability to just through muddy clothes and boots in the back with a dog was what set me on the Tacoma. My boys are 7-10 years. Have not heard any complaining about leg room yet. I never did have the truck while I needed back facing seats though. The added space of the long bed helps with all the gear a family needs. The back of the 4runner was a little to small for gear in my opinion.

Our neighbors had a Oldsmobile silhouette with the super angled windshield

Was so cool looking compared to everyone’s prévia

We replaced our Toyota master ace with a Range Rover HSE 4.6

Talk about never seeing your mechanic to them going on Hawaii trips with your money

I mean even my fiance who doesn't really care about cars would not want a minivan.

The only way I'd own a van if it was a body-on-frame truck like a Chevy Express with 4WD but in that case why not just get a Sequoia or something?

We have 15 4R (w/ KDSS) & 16 Tacoma and this is just my opinion. For what you described, i would say get the 4R (maybe Trail editon or Pro if you want). Tacoma does fit car seats just fine (got 2 car seats in Tacoma and 2 in 4R) but 4R definitely has a noticeable more room not only in back seats but also front seat with height adjustability and I just find he 4R Trail edition little easier to drive based on shorter body than my DCLB Tacoma, more interior space, noticeable better acceleration and better handling than my then stock Offroad suspenison.

Suspension on my 16 OR is now muh better after Bilstein 6112/5160 upgrade and Its kinda hard for me to get rid of my Tacoma because i hate depending on others when it comes for me to move/haul stuff. I like being able to do things myself.

MY double cab '17 is fine with the kid sitting rear facing in the back. Obviously it will be more up to your lifestyle and what you plan on doing with your vehicle, but coming from my experience as a 6' guy, theres plenty of room for me, and I have long legs.

I have both vehicles. In the tacos the car seat takes away room from the front passenger side. The 4Runner is awesome can’t fit stroller and all sorts of stuff and keeps it dry. I have to problem using either with the baby if that helps. But sounds to me like you need a 4Runner.

Same here. I’d much rather use my 4Runner for my kid.

I’ve got both minus the kids but I’d get the 4runner.

Really not that much more passenger room in a 4R than a Taco honestly.

We have a a limited highlander and your spot on. The wife used to have 4Runner and loves the 5th gen, but won’t even consider another one because it doesn’t have the amenities the highlander does.

I like my Tacoma. No, it's not the best family vehicle. It's not the best truck for hauling, towing and as a work truck. It's not even the best offroading vehicle. Hell, I'm not sure it's the best at anything. For me, it's the best compromise. I can only afford one vehicle. Every other vehicle I considered meant I would need another vehicle to do tasks that I need to complete on a regular basis. Sure it doesn't have gobs of room to fit a stroller inside or a full entertainment system and I'm certainly limited to fitting only two car seats, but it's a decent offroad vehicle, I can do light duty hauling, I can bring home large furniture and it's an ok kid hauler too. Really, it's one of only a few vehicles that can do most of what I need it to do. It's kind of a jack of all trades. Not great at anything, but pretty decent at everything. If I had the money, I'd have a fully built Jeep for the trails, a minivan for hauling the kids, a '69 Camaro for weekend fun, a custom Harley just because, a F250 CrewCab to pull the Jeep and haul shit, and a Tacoma because in this hypothetical world I have more money than I know what to do with so what's another $35k on a Tacoma.
