It's useless when carrying a quad. You attach it to the truck with tie downs. The bed extender does nothing to keep the quad in the truck.

Bed extenders are incredibly useful. When towing that quad, you carry bags, fuel jug, stands, ramps, etc that will fall out of the bed when carrying the quad, even in a 6 foot bed. You usually can't shut the gate in a 6 foot bed, either.

I will be buying a long bed and getting some bed extender. It won't be a factory one, though. It can fold out to be a ramp, as well.

6 ft bed ftw. Well for me at least... I am 5'10" and I can sleep comfortably in the back if my Tacoma that has a topper. Sometimes when I camp, I don't wanna pull my trailer and sleeping in the truck makes perfect sense. Also why I got this nifty air mattress that goes over my fender wells making the bed an actual bed!

DCLB TRD Off Road is great combination. Too bad it took so long for Toyota to make one.

Yep, it is a DCLB. See the larger gap between cab and wheel well? Only 1 ft longer. Nothing like driving a Super Duty crew cab with 8 ft box.

That white DC was the exact one I had on order, until i saw an Inferno 2nd gen. I immediately called the dealer and switched the color... I LOVE the white but... that inferno...

Well this is as good a place as any for a first post. I am really wanting to get the DCLB OR. I want a truck that can do it all. I want to be able to actually use the bed and I want some pretty, good off road abilities too. I dont think I will be getting into anything too crazy, but i would want to be able to go hunting and stuff with the truck. Will a long bed work as ling as you are doing anything to crazy?

This the problem with the LB. If you aren't going to be doing anything that you will get "high-centered" on, then you should be just fine.

Don't see why not. A normal Silverado extended cab 6ft bed is still longer. I think it is a good compromise. I go off road a lot but I don't do it to wheel. Just as a means to get to a campsite or whatever. If you want an all around designated off road truck I would go with the access cab or DCSB.

OK so noob speaking, would sliders help with this? Or does needing sliders cross into the "too much" for a long-bed? Also again, that pic looks like even a short bed would have issues without a lift and sliders?

That was kinda my plan. Nothing to crazy, but 3' lift, sliders that can double as side steps for getting in, and maybe a new bumper. I think I could do a lot with that and still use it as a truck.

I did a search and saw plenty of guys with sliders on 2nd gen long-beds. I think you'll be ok with your planned setup.

Not sure why it's called "long bed" because its a normal bed, like every generation truck before the DC entered the market. I went from a 06' AC to a 09' DCSB and sold it after a month. SB isn't functional enough for most needs. The high clearance issue will really only happen if you're trying to rock crawl which these trucks aren't designed for. If you wanna crawl, buy a Wrangler Rubicon.
