depending on camera angle, that gap looks bigger or smaller since on our 12 it kinda wraps around the cab corner. plus you want a bigger gap so its easer to put on bed covers/caps.

Don't even get me going on the sheet metal and paint variances on our new Wrangler. All kinds of wave and orange peel down that thing.

OP, I think what your seeing is more a variance of lighting and angle of the photograph between all these photos. I'm sure with most trucks the gap is the same, but the shadow created by how the bedside 'rolls forward' towards the cab is what varies.

Seems strange as this has to be one of the best selling configurations. I remember the 1st gen had a stamped gas cap door. It kinda ate the fender flare. I always that that was strange.

I misread this earlier. Yes it stops abruptly because there is no room in front of the fender flare to put the stamp. But there is also a gap between the bed and cab that is a little larger than 'some' would expect. Maybe they will fix it before production, but based on the official reveal photo that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm sure they'll still sell like hot cakes, it's just a fit n finish issue that is what it is. I don't think that it looks bad, just not as good as the long beds is all.

You can see looking back at the bed how the cab groove/stamping and the straight vertical line of the bed don't match up that well. We'll call that little hole the mud catcher. But maybe that's why they left such a big gap between the bed and the cab, so you can clean the mud catcher more easily.

I currently own a 2006 TRD Sport. The 2016 TRD Sport has some of the most ugly AZZ wheels. I think I am going with the limited this time around

Aren't those trucks pictured at the launches considered prototypes? Production vehicles could vary...
