So I went to the Leer/Snugtop dealer in town and the ARE dealer to get quotes for a new shell.

The ARE Shells (all prices are for the base DCSB size with no add ons):
    Z $2,739
    X $2,418
    CX $2,178
    V $1,995
    MX $2373
    ARE Add ons:
    Front sliding removable window $120
    Sliding Windoor $175 (each)
    Roof Rack Tracks $225
The Leer Shells (all prices are for the base DCSB size with no add ons):
    100R $2,078
    100XR $2,257
    180 $2,300
    Leer Add ons:
    Front sliding removable window $175
    Sliding Windoor $290 (each)
    Roof Rack Tracks $313
I've looked around and seen some older threads with what people paid for their shells and these seem to be higher by quite a bit. Have prices changed or am I SOL if I want to buy one new?

Just 6 months ago my local dealer said 100R started at about $1600. So that shell seems a bit high.

Are prices generally higher in Alaska ?

That said, new is definitely a premium. I shopped for about a year and found a SnugTop XV with sliding rear windows, carpet, dome light, LED 3rd brake light, fold down rear window and Thule roof rack rails (plus 2 locking crossbars) and I paid $700. I had to replace the struts on the window ($52), the paint has some chips and it needed a wash.

The same retailer that quoted the Leer mentioned above said the shell, brand new was about $2600. So I got a pretty good deal.

For some stuff, I haven't really bought anything big up here and I've never bought a shell before.

I paid $3K for my Leer 100RCC but prices in Canada are usually stupid high

I saw only 5 or so in that time so it's pretty slow, and I'm in California.

Love having it though. Hope you grab one soon. I couldn't justify or afford the cost of new.

Just paid 1740.00 last week for a Leer 100xr. Price was with removable slider window and carpet kit. I went in a few times and called around to other stores and they ALL had different prices? I told my local Leer dealer the lowest price and the store that quoted me that price. He said he would honor that price. Kinda bull shit. Should be a set price. But I saved about 150.00 by checking a round. Might try it.

    This was for a DCSB.
