I use to not like the DCLB but I love them now. I have a USW toolbox in my shortbed and there is little room to haul something of decent size. The DCLB would have come in handy in a few occasions since December, when I got the toolbox. But I must admit the black toolbox on sliver Taco looks very good.

I like the look of my short bed, but wouldn't mind the functionality of a long bed.

Just traded in my '09 DC SB Prerunner for a '11 DC LB 4x4 Sport. Part of the reason was the short bed. I purchased the SB thinking it really wouldn't make much of a difference. After having the truck for 2 years the long bed is a better option for me for a number or reasons.
1st I had been wanting to get the Thule Xporter racks for kayaks, surfboards, and other misc items. I could use it with the short bed but I wouldn't be able to lower the racks since the wheel well is all the way at the front of the bed, with the long bed that is not an issue.
2nd I could sleep in the SB but it was a squeeze for me.
3rd I am considering getting a camper shell and I don't really like the looks of it on the SB. The cab looks the exact same size as the bed and it just doesn't look right to me.
These were all minor issues but they led me to get the LB. Since I was getting the LB I went for the 4x4 since I don't plan on getting a different vehicle for a loooong time.

For me it was an issue of fitting it in a garage, I wanted a DCLB but the DCSB is the one I went with because it fit in the garage. I did'nt want my new truck to sit outside, especially in the winter!

long bed no doubt... its not even that much harder to park or anything, unless you're an asian lady. The short beds look like funny, like it has been chopped off. The long bed just look better proportionately.

Long bed all the way, it's easier to fit two bikes for the desert, don't take it off road too much, can throw down an air mattress and sleep in that thing, just too much good stuff. Parking is not bad at all and I think it makes for a damn good looking lifted truck.

LB would have never fit in my garage, othere than that, I have no problem with the LB. What I really want is a regular cab SB, that would be crazy.

DC/LB for me. I use my truck to haul stuff all the time and really make use of the extra space.

IMO, the SB can potentially offer more.

Better for off roading (shorter wheel base)
    TRD off road available
    6 spd manual available

But now if you know you won't be off roading and you won't want 6 spd manual, then get th LB.
Also if you know you're going to be hauling a lot of stuff, get a LB. But if not, SB will be just fine.

I have the SB and if need be, I also have the bed extender. In the last 4+ years, I've used the bed extender about 10 times. Not once have I wished I got the LB

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Long bed. Because there would be no way possible to do this with the short bed!

Towing a two place snowmobile trailer with another sled in the bed. BTW it still hangs off the end of the tailgate of my long bed.
